Being able to comprehend someone's motives does not grant their actions legality or rightness.

Well, I would venture to say that Jeremy is playing Devil's Advocate and trying to see things from the other guy's point of view. I can certainly admire that.
However, in this case, we are talking about people committing criminal acts, which then cost me and you a lot of damn money!
“He was the most prodigious personification of all human inferiorities. He was an utterly incapable, unadapted, irresponsible, psychopathic personality, full of empty, infantile fantasies, but cursed with the keen intuition of a rat or a guttersnipe. He represented the shadow, the inferior part of everybody’s personality, in an overwhelming degree, and this was another reason why they fell for him.”

Exactly. I certainly agree that I can take the Mexicans' POV if I want to. Hell, I can take the POV of a cockroach and claim that feces are a great meal. But I get the impression that Jeremy isn't just taking someone else's POV here. I get the impression that he sees Uncle Sugar as fair game for any and all comers who can work a game.

I think Jeremy is simply making an attempt to show the motivation behind the illegal immigrants. The "other side of the border" is greener approach.
The facts are that when people sneek across the border of most any other country, you are risking life, limb and serious jail time. Forget about health care, welfare, jobs, and education. Sneaking into america carries little risk of retribution from the U.S. government. Casting your lot with smugglers is risky though. Once you get across the border, you can get a drivers licence in some states, and when you find a job, the pay is much better than in Mexico. Healthcare and welfare is also available. Their are bilingual atm machines, police officers, county health and welfare people. bank tellers, waiters, all catering to them. Many can get by without learning a single word of english. If I went to Mexico to work, I would expect to learn the language and local culture so I can better fit in. Even if the illegals end up in jail, they get a due process that their homeland wouldn't give them and the jails in the U.S. are often times better than where they lived in Mexico.
The problem is that Mexicans have been sneaking into the states for so long they think it is their right. Kind of like when we go 10 miles over the speed limit for 10 years and then finally get a ticket. Our first reaction is "Officer! you cant give me a ticket! I have been driving like this for a decade. If it was wrong, surely I would have been ticketed before." when we first speed it is a guilty pleasure, after about a week of not getting caught the pleasure changes to a right(in our minds) and we expect to drive over the limit. The longer we speed, the more pissed we are when we finally get caught. Well, the Mexicans have been speeding into the united states for so long, they actually think any effort on our part to limit their border activities is a violation of their rights. The sooner we put a stop to this nonsence the better.

Out of curiosity, does anyone know what Mexico does with illegal imigrants from central america that go to Mexico?
Removing a single turd from the cesspool doesn't make any difference.

The thing is guys, you should be upset with the US Government, not the illegal Mexicans. Don't blame the criminals (illegals in this case) if the Law isn't enforced, blame the USG. Yes, our (mine & yours) tax money is pissed away giving these Mexicans free stuff (healthcare, social services, DMV). If you're a Mexican, you don't have to follow US Laws, because you ain't a citizen! Why would a Mexican trying to sneak in care if they are following an unenforced law? Why follow any law if it is better to break the law? Because a law that is not enforced, is not a law! There are thousands of laws on the books not enforced. Obviously, USG isn't interested in protecting the borders. The USG is a joke, with their tough speeches about HomeLand Defense, Iraqi Democracy, & we have 20,000,000 illegals in the country!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A country isn't a country if it can't defend its borders. I really don't if you machine gun down the Mexicans if they try to enter, but I'm not going to blame Mexicans if the USG doesn't do squat.

Nobody wants to "machine-gun" them down Jeremy...just stop them until they can be escorted back across the border.

When Mexicans enter the country, they can legally register and get an ID card, but they drive around without a valid license because they can not get a SS #. They work, make cash, and send it back to Mexico. They get all the benefits of being a citizen, but have no responsibilities as a citizen, see?

This stance will require the US Government and Mexican Government to work together to find an answer to the situation.

Nope, we should be upset with both. And ourselves for our part in letting the government get this lax about it.

But mostly I blame the Mexican government for being too inept and corrupt to provide for its own people.

That's what this whole thing is about. People are sick of lax border control.

Same reasons Clinton and his buddies didn't, votes and money.

If Bush & Clinton don't care, why should I care? Why the hell would some poor ass illegal Mexican care? Bush & Clinton wanted votes, so they can keep their jobs for money & power. The Mexicans want in the country for money. And the people who don't want the Mexicans here is to protect their money. It's all about the cash.

Okay then, why can't I drive without a license....and if Mexicans don't have to pay taxes, then I shouldn't either....get the point? And we are talking thousands of them per year....I'll google for some statistics.
