A website I work for a major DoS attack. I'm still relatively new in the webmaster world and was hoping I can get a few tips.

It's on a shared host, and basically from what I'm guessing, the attackers spoofed their IPs and started hogging resources like crazy (sending a million requests per minute to a file or something). This caused the MySQL server to continously crash and ultimately our hosts who had no spine to stand up to these attacks, suspended our account and asked us to leave their service.

I've got the website back up, on new hosts, explained the situation to them, and asked a million questions about their security systems. They seemed confident that the same won't happen on their service, but then they could also be attracting a customer. I wanted to know if you guys would know anything specific I'm supposed to be asking in terms of security?
