    He was never de jure leader of Libya. The tribes ruled the country ;)
    All politics on WMD's and the shut down of a weapons program.

    Daffy ruled Libya by force when it was necessary, appeasment when it wasnt. He was the figurehead and lived better then anyone there so he was indeed the de facto ruler.

    And you now see the problems both Syria and Bahrain both have. Assad will be lucky to remain in power but you can bet Iran will do everything possible to help him. If Syria is lost then Iran is in big trouble and Hamas and Hezbollah have no future. Big trouble if some of their "secrets" are exposed such as some of Daffy's are being now. Lots will be learned by intell communities. More then either of them want anyone to know.
