I am sure we have some classical music aficionados here. What better way to bring them out of the woodwork than starting a thread about it?
Post away your favorite classical music here!
I'll start.
I've loved this short piece since I was about 6:
Meddle not in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup.
Abusing Yellow is meant to be a labor of love, not something you sell to the highest bidder.
Ou est le Chopin?!
And it may not be 'classical' (in that it's from 2006!) but Avril 14th is beautiful. Heard it first in Marie Antoinette, really builds up to a profound and moving finish:
Although it is not true that all conservatives are stupid people, it is true that most stupid people are conservative.
- John Stuart Mill.
Alrighty, since everyone is in love with Viv
In the realm of spirit, seek clarity; in the material world, seek utility
Gottfried Leibniz
Some more Viv
In the realm of spirit, seek clarity; in the material world, seek utility
Gottfried Leibniz
And sticking with the Baroque theme, Handel
In the realm of spirit, seek clarity; in the material world, seek utility
Gottfried Leibniz
I have occasionally claimed that if I was stranded on an island with no music but Chopin, I would be content. Not enthused with my lot in life, but content.
If Grieg had written more, he might replace Chopin- though I must say his music is so overwrought it might be dangerous if I didn't listen to anything else...
Some favorites from the Peer Gynt Suites:
And of course, the proto-metal of the Mountain King:
Or as interpreted by Apocalyptica...
I enjoy being wrong too much to change my mind.
