    Who killed Michael Wittman?

Title says it all, there has been so much speculation and no one really knows who fire that shell.

People say it was either the 1st Polish Armoured Division, the 4th Canadian Armoured Division, the 144 Regiment Royal Armoured Corps or the RAF Second Tactical Air Force. Any ideas guys?

Other than Joe Ekins? not sure:

From what I've read on the subject (not much), it was either Joe Ekins or someone from A Squadron of The Sherbrooke Fusiliers Regiment, 2nd Canadian Armoured.

Long time ago, not much proof either way

Regardless of who fired the fatal shot, what I always find interesting with WW2 is the level of reconstruction of battles after the fact. A lot like the U.S. Civil War. Enthusiasts and historians expend enormous effort to research the who, where, when of pretty much every battle, down to where individual soldiers were located at a specific time.

A similar (but less complicated) controversy surrounds the downing of von Richtofen in WW1.

now that you have mentioned Von Richtofhen, both Michael Wittman and Manfredd von Richtofhen were both nicknamed the barons, Wittman was nicknamed the Black Baron and Richtofhen nicknamed the Red baron. did history just repeat itself but intead on the air it was on the ground?

While Richthofen was famous to both sides, Wittmann was unknown to the Allied tank crews, his fame outside of Germany came post-war.
