It appears that the Army is making progress with its goal to pure fleet the active duty HBCTs with M1A2 and the ARNG with re-manufactured M1A1s.

However the other side of the conversation is a weight reduction to produce a 60 ton Abrams that matches or exceeds current capabilties.

What is the current status of the MRM-CE? I can find a number of articles about it from the 2006 time frame that suggested it was progressing smoothly, but not much that is more recent. At the same time, I have seen a number of sources that mention a 2013 IOC. Have you heard or seen anything about this round recently?

last I heard was it was cut out of the FCS program when that got canceled and Gen Dynamics and Raytheon were awarded a contract to mature the technology and get it ready for IOC and serial production in 2008.
