Which is exactly what LRIP and Operational testing is all about.

The F35 still cant actually fire any missiles.... The sidewinder wint fit in the wing rails(and destroy stealth if they did) and the internal bay vibrates too bad when open to launch an amraam at combat speeds.

The only thing I found about vibration and the AMRAAM was from 2014 prior to USMC IOC and wasn't indicated to be a show stopper, just outside what had been tested previously.

"Although with the bay doors open, the F-35 generates vibration levels exceeding those against which the Amraam has been tested, “right now I don't have any indication this is an aircraft problem,” Wagner says. “Because the bay doors are open for only a very limited amount of time, . . . that short duration is significant, but it is not something that I am too worried about.”

"Wagner says the thermal and vibration analysis should be complete in the next 15 months"

The F-22 also has vibration issues with the AIM-120C that the AIM-120D apparently solves, so I think it's something unique to that version of the missile.

"In previous tests with the C-7 (the AIM-120C), measurements determined that vibration levels in certain frequencies were harmful to the missile's electronics, Mr. Besson said."

This source has F-35s firing internally carried AIM-120Cs BVR and taking HOBS shots with externally carried AIM-9Xs at drone targets since at least August of 2016.

I haven't heard anything about AMRAAM issues lately. Do you have a recent source?

It (AMRAAM) was mentioned in passing in an article talking about the wing tip issue with the sidewinder.

The 35 has configurable rails, just like the F-18s.

FYI , F-22s got AIM-9 capability this month.

Either way, this now gets the initial cost of the F-35 down around where they predicted it would be 10 years ago.
Trumps claims of making savings are a nonsense. The price is as per the LRIP schedule. eg the RAAF price was and still is $86m and falls in that delivery cycle.

There is a problem firing the missile from Aviation Week.

F-35C Needs New Outer Wings To Carry AIM-9X

[QUOTE]The head of the F-35 Joint Program Office (JPO) says the outer wings of 32 carrier-based C-models need to be replaced to carry the Raytheon AIM-9X Sidewinder, the aircraft’s primary dogfighting weapon.
The U.S. Navy variant experienced an undisclosed amount of oscillation or turbulence during flight trials with the AIM-9X in December 2015, and Lt. Gen. Christopher Bogdan says aircraft already delivered need to be retrofitted with strengthened wings.

“It was discovered the outer, folding portion of the wing has inadequate structural strength to support the loads induced by pylons with AIM-9X missiles during maneuvers that cause buffet,” Bogdan says in written testimony to Congress on Feb. 16.

Engineers have already produced an enhanced outer wing design, which is now undergoing flight testing. The issue has impacted the timeline for fielding AIM-9X, which is being rolled out for the Navy in Block 3F. “Once the new design is verified to provide the require strength, the fix will be implemented in production and retrofitted to existing aircraft by swapping existing outer wings with the redesigned ones,” Bogdan writes.

The AIM-9X is the heat-seeking sidekick to the Raytheon AIM-120C advanced medium-range air-to-air missile. Without it, the F-35 would be incapable of high off-boresight shots at close range. Because of a seven-year schedule delay, the fifth-generation fighter will carry air superiority missiles that are one generation behind its legacy counterparts, which are already carrying the newest AIM-9X Block II and AIM-120D. Doesn't affect the 35 A or B.

Do you know why the C cannot carry the 9X on the 4 inboard pylons? Looks like all but station 6 are AA capable
