  • Letter Bomb Injures 2 at Swiss Nuclear Office

GENEVA — A letter bomb exploded at the office of a Swiss nuclear industry lobbying group on Thursday, slightly injuring two employees, a police spokesman said.

The letter bomb exploded at the fourth floor office of Swissnuclear in the northern town of Olten at 7.:45 local time as personnel were opening the mail, Andreas Mock, a spokesman for the local police said. Mr. Mock said that a woman employee suffered injuries to her hands and arms and another employee complained of hearing problems as a result of the explosion.

^ Is nowhere safe? Switzerland is the last place I would expect terrorist to target. I hope they catch the culprit/s and lock them up for a long time.

Actually in the 60ths & 70ths there was quite a wave of terror attacks in Switzerland, but then again the same can be said for many places in Europe at that time.

Yeah, looks like there's a new player in town. Did not know opposition to nuke power being this extreme.

Nothing special. In Berlin and Hamburg, there are anti-nuke groups doing arson attacks the past couple years, with an increase in the past weeks. Last month they found some incendiary explosive devices under railway tracks north of Berlin in pre-checks for an incoming nuclear waste transport.

Switzerland used to have explosives attacks on iirc transformer stations or power lines for nuclear plants back around 1980 mostly centering around [this guy]. In the years following his arrest in 1991 attacks were committed over the past 20 years to try to press the government to free him; the last one was an arson attack on the car of a politician in 2008.
