The last great-grandson of the Union commander in the Civil War has died in the town of Battlefield. Ulysses S. Grant V (the fifth) died at his home. He was 90 years old.

He was known as a family historian who had a large collection of artifacts related to his famous ancestor. He had spent most of his life as an avocado grower in California but had moved to the Springfield area to be near family. One of his 11 grandchildren is Ulysses S. Grant the sixth.
I didn't know he lived around here. RIP Sir.

The area of south Springfield Missouri is known as Battlefied due to the proximity of the Wilson Creek Battlefield. The story is quite short, just thought I would explain that.

AR, I know you visited the battlefield, did you have any idea that he was so close by?

    Snipe,

Thanks for bringing that to my attention.

If I had known I would have made a pilgrimage.

On my last trip I had lunch at the Subway near the Super Walmart....prior to that I got a bad a slice of pizza at a stop-and-rob at the intersection of Rt 160 and ZzRoad(?)

    Thanks again, Snipe.
