    Hard days for the moderates there.

    Many people who would otherwise be moderate could be forced to go with the flow. The general polity may harden.

    Even a strongman and a dictator like Musharraf could not take on the religious brigade and implement his publicly announced policies (like controlling Madressas, removing the pledge with passport applications that Ahmedias are not Muslims and also I think the blasphemy law).

    Also, many people are devout Muslims and they really can't take any blasphemous behavior. I read of a recent survey in Pakistan where more than 80% wanted death for the apostates for example.

    Mind you, the same people get very happy when anyone anywhere converts to Islam. Am I glad others don't kill their apostates!
