  • Haiku thread

Stolen from a friend's Facebook post:

    Before sleigh take-off:
    Must Santa's balls be 'jingled'
    By the TSA?
Keep the haiku's coming . . . add your own.

    This and five others
And now we add seven more
    This is a Haiku
Meddle not in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup.

Abusing Yellow is meant to be a labor of love, not something you sell to the highest bidder.

      I like this one

      The crow has flown away:

      swaying in the evening sun,

      a leafless tree.

Haiku is three short lines. The first line usually contains five (5) syllables, the second line seven (7) syllables, and the third line contains five (5) syllables. Haiku doesn't rhyme. A Haiku must "paint" a mental image in the reader's mind. This is the challenge of Haiku - to put the poem's meaning and imagery in the reader's mind in ONLY 17 syllables over just three (3) lines of poetry!
