      They could be serious. There are other reasons to do this publicly.
      1. Israel is not best placed to strike Iran. They are sending a message to the US.
      2. Releasing this information to the Western press allows the Saudis to test the waters in their own country indirectly and mentally prepare the Saudi citizenry for what's coming. Something that's completely secret, and revealed suddenly, would be too much of a psychological shock and lead to unpredictable consequences.
      3. Israeli and Saudi intelligence can use Iranian reactions to the agreement to better assess what the Iranians would do.


      So, I think this agreements is one that needs to be quiet, but not completely secret.
