  • If Shek can do it, so can I ;)

Following Shek's lead, I'm creating a music thread and I create this in hopes that I (and others) can find some cool music to listen to:

Simply put, try to name your favorite ten songs of all time.

Genre doesn't matter period doesn't matter....just your top ten songs of all time.

You can list more than ten....as much as you like actually..I'm just looking for some cools songs I might've missed.

Laughing at other people's lists are not only allowed in this thread...but highly encouraged. ;)

Mine are in no particular order:

    Eagles - Desperado

    Stratovarious - Forever

    CCR - Bad Moon Rising

    Bon Jovi - Always

Bryan Ferry - Slave to Love

Dire Strait - Brothers in Arms

Alice Cooper - I Never Cry

    ELO - Midnight Blue

Clannad - (Theme from) Harry's Game

Fire Inc. - Tonight is what it means to be young

CCR - Who'll Stop the Rain

    Orleans - Still the One

Eagles - Take it to the Limit

Leonard cohen - I'm your Man

I've only heard of "Take it to the limit" and "Still the one" out of all these songs.

    Metallica - Enter Sandman
Michael Jackson - Smooth Criminal (2nd best music video of all time)
Alize - La Isla Bonita (she added that Mediterranean flavor to the song)
Kenny Logins - Danger Zone (crappy movie, best movie soundtrack of all time)
Glen Miller - In the Mood
Linkin Park - What I've Done
    Queen - Fat Bottomed Girls

These are all the ones I can think of right now.

      "smooth criminal"

I hope you realize, gunnut, that your love of zombies does not make up
      for this transgression.

Notice I said Smooth Criminal was the 2nd best music video of all time.

What's the first, you ask? Thriller!

^^^ I started out with Stairway but changed my mind. No Quarter and Hey Hey What Can I Do were in the running too.

My Floyd pick was between Money, Time, and Breathe. The Wall just didn't make the cut. ;)

Your Dylan pick is a good one (I prefer the Clapton version), but mine was better.

Notice the absense of 3 chord selections (Eagles) and Michael Jackson ( )....

Brian McKnight - I Remember You
                Van Morrison - Moondance
Elvis Costello - Watching the Detectives/Angels Wanna Wear My Red Shoes (tie)

Very hard to pick 10, I whittled it down to 10 off the top of my head, mighn't stand by it:

U2 - With or Without You
                  U2 - One
Don Henley - The End of the Innocence
                  Arcade Fire - Intervention
                  Arcade Fire - Rebellion (Lies)
The Romantics - What I like about you
                  New Order - Ceremony
The Cure - Just Like Heaven
                  The Cranberries - Zombie
                  Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Maps
(Honourary 11th! - French Kicks, Abandon).

Being an 80s child probably influences it, growing up U2 literally defined my generation of Irish kid, so I could think of 50 songs from them, as well as the innovation of bands like New Order, The Connells, Cranberries, even eclectic one hit sensations like the Tom Tom Club etc, that really reclaimed music in many ways.

Even today I could probably fill a list with Phoenix, The White Stripes, YYYs, the Hives, CSS, The Strokes, Snow Patrol, Dashboard Confessional, The Cardigans, and plenty others - mostly I like garage/art rock, only a little off mainstream but still pretty indie sounding, I've been known to dabble in girly stuff too though, Enya sings like an Angel.
Although it is not true that all conservatives are stupid people, it is true that most stupid people are conservative.
                  - John Stuart Mill.

Crooks: Enya is not girly stuff!

Jeez, top 10 songs of all time? No way in hell I'll be able to name just 10. I'll get back to that tomorrow or the next day, it's going to be really hard to make a list that short...

Abusing Yellow is meant to be a labor of love, not something you sell to the highest bidder.
