I haven't heard about this (yet); do you know if they are planning on doing a demo with it? That should wow the crowd . . . ."There is never enough time to do or say all the things that we would wish. The thing is to try to do as much as you can in the time that you have. And according to some sources/pilot anecdotes, it supercruises even faster than that.

And then there is the Raptor's super cruise capability that lets it fly at supersonic speed without using fuel-guzzling afterburners as required by other fighters.
"That saves us a lot of gas and opens up a whole host of things when you start talking about dropping bombs," Krumm said. "You can imagine if you are 60,000 feet doing mach 1.9 (about 1,400 mph) and these bombs are flying out of your airplane, the swath of hell you can produce going through a country saying 'I'll take that target, and that target'."

....
slickest plane ive ever seen, also they were talking about how in one of the red/blue flags how the f22 was slaughtering all jets sent against it from screaming out of the sky from over 65,000 ft,nothing was able to hang with it or get lockons. the news about paris was quoted by larry lawson executive vice president and general man. of f22 program, had to work through some past problems from when we 1st took f117"s there years ago.but it seems its a go.Last edited by biteasaur; 05 Feb 09,, 20:41.

AFAIK, only one Raptor has ever been "shot down" at a Red Flag excercise, and that was only because an entire flight of F-16's volleyed their electronic AMRAAM's in the general direction of a Raptor that was busy designating them with it's own radar; however, the Raptor got it's revenge: it had fired all of it's own AIM-120C's before it got destroyed, and "killed" all four of the F-16's."There is never enough time to do or say all the things that we would wish.
