Was it the CPU or the Tjunction in Core Temp that read 90C? Tjunction readings can be ignored with Core Temp.
Still, 70C at full load is pretty high, on the limit I would say. Not that it would necessarily create problems, but the cooler everything runs, the better it works.
I just like my PCs to run cool AND quiet. Not that easy but possible.
I'll try to gather info I have somewhere and was useful to me last time I built a PC.L'essentiel est invisible pour les yeux

i built this in may-08
Raidmax Ninja case
Thermaltake 750W power supply
Gigabyte P35 DSR3R motherboard
Intel Core2 Quad Q9300 2,5Ghz - 1333FSB processor
Kingston 4Gb DDR2 (2x 2Gb) Hyper-X 800Mhz rams
Seagate Barracuda 500GB - 7200rpm 32mb Cache HDD
MSI Nvidia 8800gt(512 bit) with Zytek Zalman Cooler Video card
as the operating system i am using a Vista Home(unfortunately i am too lazy to install Pro. version) with an upgraded application lock (2GB to 3GB) better for gaming.Love all, trust a few, do wrong to none; be able for thine enemy rather in power than use; and keep thy friend under thine own life's key; be checked for silence, but never taxed for speech.

"Cool and Quiet" won't work when a program calls the CPU to run at full load. It disables or cuts power to portions of the CPU not being used to reduce power loss and heat. It also throttles the CPU clock back to further decrease power use. AMD still rules the field of idle power consumption due to this feature and the maturity of its architecture."Only Nixon can go to China." -- Old Vulcan proverb.

I have a Conroe, that's my most modern CPU. I assume the newer ones must run cooler.
I run Orthos Stress Prime 24hs and don't remember the exact figures, but I think it was max. 50C at full load in the entire test.
My cores rarely exceed 30C, and my PC is very quiet. Doesn't matter if the temp goes up, the fans won't accelerate.L'essentiel est invisible pour les yeux

Hi, I would like to know how much all your customised PC's score as per as Vista performance rating, I am new to Vista OS and my desktop is rather old, the performance rating my PC scores under Vista Ultimate is 2.2,
I remember assembling my PC some 4 years back my Desktop Configuration....
CPU: P4 3.0 Ghz
Motherboard: Asrock 775i65g
1 GB Kingston RAM (possibly DDR2)
Nvidia Geforce 6200 256mb AGP
Internal TV tuner card
2 x 160 GB Seagate or Bigfoot SATA HDD
1 x Sony DVD RW
17" Samsung CRT
Originally I am a fan of AMD 'cause it gives equilivent performance at lower cost.

Ironduke, there might (I said might) be issues with this mobo temps, maybe fixable with new BIOS, haven't looked it thoroughly but here it says somenthing:

And anyway maybe it is worth to have a look at this in general:

I used the Anandtech site to configure and tweak my system once I choose the mobo, and it went great. For me, I am even prepared to underclock to keep things cool, although I'm not doing it.L'essentiel est invisible pour les yeux

Here is a great site if you want to keep things quiet:
http://www.silentpcreview.com/
I'm not specially picky with noises, but spend a lot of time with PCs, and it does make a lot of difference if they are quiet. I specifically cannot stand those hateful little fans. No fans for my graphic cards, I'm not a gamer anyway. And BIG, SLOW fans for the rest of the system, and as few as possible.L'essentiel est invisible pour les yeux

With the ACFP7 and an overclock from 9x333 to 9x400, idle temp has been reduced to 40-41C and and under 100% load is at 53-58C.
So overall, seems pretty good. Fairly quiet as well."Every man has his weakness. Mine was always just cigarettes."
