  • Bill O'Reilly: Your opinion?

Most of us know who Bill O'Reilly. Host of the O'Reilly Factor as well as the Radio Factor. We all know that he leans very much so to the right, but does he sometimes go overboard? I'm a moderate, and I find that he can be incredibly offensive at times, and has a tenancy to get into a yell fest when all else fails, particularly if the person he's interviewing is getting the upper hand in the discussion, and then he often cuts them off when things get too out of hand. So what's your opinion?

You must remember, and he even reminds people of this on the Radio Factor.

He is an Entertainer. not just a political commentator.

I don't see him as part of the right wing. I would put him as a centralist. Not because he has views that are down the middle but because his views go from extreme left to extreme right depending on the subject.

But maybe that a bit of the entertainer coming out and sinking the hook so that I will continue to listen.

I have enjoyed reading 2 of his books

I can't stand the guy. I change the station as soon as I hear his voice (on the radio), I will not watch the Fox News Network because I might see his pasty face, or hear his whiny voice. I have nothing but contempt for the, dare I say, 'man.' He is gutless and weak. I have bookmarked the following link because I hate the 'man':

(Warning, very explicit. Why would you let your children surf this filth we call the intarnetz? Also, this is a prime example of the "Left-wing Media Nutzos that want to ruin my reputation." Bill, if you are reading this, I am very much right wing but I hate you, and I think there is something about this story that rings true....)

You really need to watch all the videos, and read the whole story... The O'Reilly that you know from the radio and TV tries to hide these sordid facts about his TRUE life.

I hate O'Reilly. Hate Hate Hate.

I agree with Gun Grape. Bill O'Reilly is sometimes very much a conservative, at other times very much a big government socialist.

He is a catholic and staunchly anti-abortion. He also demonizes the oil companies for the rise in gas price and wants to tax them to high hell.

He complains about how much tax he pays but he has no problem with redistributing wealth from corporations to social projects.

The most annoying thing is his HUGE ego. I would say it's on par with Obama and Bill Clinton. He has this "holier than thou" and "don't mess with me" attitude. Good thing he's only an entertainer. I shudder to think if he became a politician and had real power.

I have to give the man credit though he does ask the hard questions.

Oh and he beats down Michael Moore better then anybody I have seen.

I dont hate him but I dont drool over him either. It really depends on the issue, if its something that interests me then I will watch a bit but I wont drop everything at 8pm sharp to tune into FOX News and watch the O'Reilly Factor.

I a capable of forming my own opinions without needing O'Reilly to tell me what to think.

That's true. He does his homework and never reports any unsubstantiated claims.

I think he's pretty fair and balanced....but his ego and arrogance turns me off. I can take him or leave him.

It's funny - my first exposure to O'Reilly was when he was giving a lecture I saw on the tube a year or so after 9/11. I had no idea who he was, and I thought it was a well-delivered, very enjoyable ideological statement and analysis piece. He came off as affable and knowledgeable. My opinion of him has always been rooted in the favorable opinion I had of that lecture, even when I think he's being a bit of a wang on his show.

                          +1

I think that sums it up pretty good. Most of the people I know feel this way. He has flashes of brilliance but, then they are overshadowed by the ego and arrogance.

Like Rush says, "its ain't braggin, if you can do it." He ain't Rush, but he's in the house! I can't stand him most of the time, but can't put him down either. He's a straight shooter........love it or leave it!

I have noticed something about conservative commentators. Don't call them on something they did not say, because they WILL pop out that soundbite and make you a liar. Don't believe it? call up Glenn, Rush, Sean, Micheal Savage, John Gibson, or Dennis Miller. I hope I'm listening when they serve you up your humble pie!

                              i think o'reilly is a pompous blow-hard, but he's better/more entertaining than rush or savage....not that THAT's saying much.
There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there has always been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that "My ignorance is just as good as your knowledge."- Isaac Asimov
