Thanks, certainly interesting, and err..... worrisome.
Pak's proliferation record is not that great, is it? We wouldn't like some low-tech dirty bomb to end up in Al-Qaida' or Taliban hands, do we?
AQ Khan offered them one before, will post link soon.

No, they are from Lanzhou MR and there is no Mountain division in Lanzhou, only highland (高原) (there are difference in TOE between a mountain and a highland division)

              Tomluter,

Some folks suggested that it was the elite 4th Highland Mech Infantry Division that took place in this ex, but I think it is the 11th Highland.

Pakistan is a very unstable nation with deep economic problems. China could be wasting its time and money in Pakistan. Chances are Pakistan will breakup into three or four nations.

Pakistan «is going to break up in the years to come and everyone who can, should pack up their bags and leave», celebrated columnist and writer Ardeshir Cowasjee has advised.

«Pack up and leave if you can. There’s no hope for this country. Jinnah said: “Each successive government in this country would be worse than the previous one”, and his prediction is coming true», Cowasjee said Friday at a get-together in Karachi.

China has more trade with India then Pakistan.
                Trade with Pakistan:
Bilateral trade was about $2.5 billion in the fiscal year to June 2004
Trade with India in June 2004:
But their trade soared to more than $13 billion in 2004
Once China and India sign a border agreement ties should even increase more.

that is just one view, not the view.

Will China prefers to deal with one nation or four nations?

China is hardly wasting money...they are profiting from Pakistan!! The US aid to Pakistan is being transferred to China as the Chinese drive whatever little Pakistani industry that existed out of business. Chinese are dumping all their wares in Pakistani markets (including milk products, I presume ) and Pakistan is basically a Chinese colony as far as its markets are concerned.

Can someone tell me what Pakistan exports to China? Cotton shirts? :)

When Pakistan asked CHina to bail them out recently, prior to IMF aid, China bluntly refused. Chinese allow the Americans to try and stabilize the conditions in Pakistan..but walk away being considered the eternal friends of Pakistan

Yes, that was really strange, considering that China and Pakistan are the best of friends.

That is an interesting question. Will China actually loose out if there are 4 countries? My opinion, no.

If China wants to tie up India,it will have the Punjab region which will be glad to help,as it is doing now.

The port of Gwadar? Balauchs would be more than happy to share it with the Chinese.

The Sindhis never had any worth while connection with China anyway and Kashmir region is not of a interest(i presume).

Above all this,if I take the recent Chinese moves, they are not doing anything to prevent a "4 nation" either.I wonder if the Chinese had a "Pakistan strategy" if things go out of control?other than seeing the PA tied down US(in Afghan) & India?

                          In 2007 , China-India trade was 38.7 billion usd. 10 month (Jan-Oct) in 2008 ,it got 45billion usd.
and China-Pakistan trade was 6.5 billion usd in 2007.

if we look at international relations only through the prism of money, I guess the Chinese government and the Japanese government are the best of friends

Biggest irony is that everybody is willing to trade even with the enemy (or maybe rival is a better word), if the price is right

Just look at the following ethnic map of Pakistan. Chances are Pakistan would break up along those lines.

                                Map: http://www.lib.utexas.edu/maps/middl...thnic_1973.jpg

Should be noted that the City of Karachi and City of Lahore account for most of the revenue in Pakistan. Many in those cities do not like that they have to bankroll the whole of Pakistan.
