  • Assault Rifle based Sniper Rifles

So it seems to me that there are several sniper rifles such as the SDM-R, SAM-R, SR-25, M110, Mark 12, and the Mark 14 that are based on the AR-15 type assault rifle variants such as the M-16, M-4, H&K 416/417, FN SCAR, and REC7.

So are the sniper rifle variants more accurate then the assault rifle types?

Do the sniper rifles have a longer effective range then the assault rifle types?

Do the sniper rifles use basically the same lower receivers as the assault rifle types?

Is it the upper receiver actions and the barrel/rifling that make the sniper rifles more accurate then the assault rifle types?

Sorry for the barrage of questions, I was just wondering about this today.

    Usually. Some more than others.

    Yes.

Mostly. Often the full-auto capability is dropped and match grade triggers are installed.

Its a total package. Triggers, glass bedding or full float barrels. Installing match grade and longer barrels. In addition, the use of telescopic sights and match grade ammo.
