Well half right.
There were a few F6F-xN Night fighters but the majority or principal fighter of 1945 Air Group/Wing was another contemporary aircraft. Think another derivative of the "Pirates" theme. Regardless USS Midway went from XXX to F-18 in her service...quite a generational upgrade in the span of almost half a century.
