Where others used solid, I used liquid. In the 1930's I perfected fuel mixtures and turbopumps to inject fuel into the combustion chambers. Developed gyroscopically controlled vanes in the nozzle to stabilize the craft in flight. Found a way to protect the engine walls from the heat of engine combustion. Who am I.

No but Wernher claimed this person's work made the V2 available sooner.

No. Rocket pioneer. His country military looked at his work and thought no. Though he worked on other weapons systems.

Finally - third time is a charm? Thanks for the hints.

This aircraft just kept on going with many different roles over the years. Some crew used this decidedly non affectionate expression to describe it...all three dead!

    The Whale!!!

    The A3D Skywarrior

Crews said A3D stood for All Three Dead since it had not been equipped with ejection seats in order to save weight.

Started as a carrier based high altitude nuclear bomber and transitioned into a very successful recon and tanker bird.

Yes the A3D is exactly right. It was most exciting watching them come aboard even on a large deck CV. I never saw them land up close on an Essex Class Carrier but that must have been real entertainment.
