Tonight's South Park took a stab at 300. Most of the scenes and quotes were taken directly from the movie, as was the overuse of slow-motion shots.

On a side note- my brother was at a huge party a few nights ago, consisting of about 350 people. The cops raided the party, and when they entered one kid stood atop a platform and bellowed, "SPARTANS! PREPARE FOR GLORY!" At which all the males in the group cried out and banded together in some sort of phalanx, ready to repel the cops. However, they dispersed before things turned violent.
    That is freakin' funny.

    .

Were the cops amused by the cheesiness of it? I'd be.

Like Sappersgt, I must be going to the wrong get-togethers.

I'm sure that the ones who saw the movie were amused, if a bit intimidated. 300 kids vs. 10 cops- long odds.

    Was the scene like this:
    YouTube - It's raining 300 men

As the comedian Richard Jeni said:

It's foolish to challenge a police officer. He has a stick to beat you with, and a gun, and a radio, to call similar individuals.

No doubt the frist 10 cops will eat it. The problem is with reinforcement.

Yep, they'd probably have to call out the riot police with the tear gas and batons and riot shields to deal with that problem.

Saw 300 yesterday, was impressed by some of the fight scenes, but to me it was like Lord of the rings at the gay pride festival.

I am truly amused by the folks who are against this movie due to "inaccuracies". This happened like 2500 years ago. Written about years later, from word of mouth, by folks like Herodotus, who were as unbiased and concerned with the truth as much as Michael Moore.

It's an action flick. If you dig action flicks then see it, you'll probably like it. If you hate action, then for God's sake stay home and watch your copy of "Beautician and the Beast" again.

For Pete sakes, give me a scene where you actually see more than 40 Spartans at the Hot Gates.

well, they did indulge in some terra-forming. remember the human wall that required breaching to get through the pass (although they did try the "roll the dead bodies over the enemy" trick which required some herculean shoulder thrusting.

I really do not see what all the fuss is about, I found it repetative, the story line was so thin to be almost nil, it was an action flick with no intention of being historicly accurate and for me it was not even a "oh I must watch that again".......I was actually bored by the end.

I would classify it as an action flick with semi-historical background. It was obviously meant to go for the male teenage-20s group, who usually like this type of movie. And in that regard, it has been a success. It wasn't meant in any way to be a documentary or to tell it as history tells us, and that's where people are getting so unhappy.
