What would a comparable Russian weapon be? An ABM or SA-12? How about Sprint and Spartan? What is the speed and range of THAAD? How does it rate? It seems to be performing well lately. Is it meant for defending US contenintal cities from ICBMs in their terminal phase?

NMD is still in it's early stages. We have a long way yet to go."We will go through our federal budget – page by page, line by line – eliminating those programs we don’t need, and insisting that those we do operate in a sensible cost-effective way." -President Barack Obama 11/25/2008

It would take longer than that just to disconnect the cables, lower the launcher and radar, get everything secured for travel, etc. I would imagine that there are ground jacks for stability, etc to get in place too.
This emphasis on how fast can they set up and break down is a way overblown imo. I'm sure it takes a lot longer to actually do in practice than is claimed in the brochures."We will go through our federal budget – page by page, line by line – eliminating those programs we don’t need, and insisting that those we do operate in a sensible cost-effective way." -President Barack Obama 11/25/2008
