  • How Good Is India's Land Forces

HI, I WANTED TO KNOW HOW GOOD INDIA'S LAND ARTILLERY IS IN GENERAL. HOW DOES IT COMPARE TO THE REST OF THE WORLD'S WEAPONS?
EXAMPLES ARE PINAKA, INDIAN T-90, BMPs, APCs, HELICOPTERS, SMALL ARMS ETC.

Indian army is the third largest and most disciplined in the world. What weapons we chose is for our security needs it may not suit another country's requirements. But over all they match with the best in the world.

    Cheers!...on the rocks!!

One Question, Is Russia Joining Nato. If It Does Will It Be A Pawn Of The U.s.?

Its more probable that russia forms a military alliance with Chineese than joining NATO.Frankly it even proposed a triangular axis centred around india china & russia as three poles.Well russians are thrown out by americans from the cold war race do u really think russians can easily forget it. Furthermore staying aloof helps russia prevent the american domination over its military decisions if it joins NATO it surely will end up being a pawn of US.But again theres no chance that it will.

I would seriously would not like to meet Putin. I get the feeling the man can charm the stripes off a tiger.

The simple fact is that Putin is a modern day Otto Von Bismarck and is trying to play everybody against everybody else ... and is pretty good at it. A few nudges here and there and he tied down the US's enormous military might away from Russia while not angering the Americans.

How Would Vladimir Be Able To Gain Power In The Security Council? Is Russia Just Agreeing On Letting India In Just For More Power?

Is Russia More A Friend To India Or China? I Know There Arent Friends In The U.n. But Just Countries With Interests In One Another. But In The End, Who Would Russia Support In A Conflict Between India Or China? Would It Just Stand Back And Watch The Fun Or Actually Help? Is Russia Just A Country That Looks For Ways To Sell Money, Or Can U Trust It? For Instance Russia Indirectly Promised Saddam That They Would Take Care Of The U.s., But Obviously They Lied To Them. I Get The Feeling Russia's Gov. Are A Bunch Of Backstabbers That Just Look For A Good Ass To Mound.

Actually, this is the sly Putin working. EURCOM only have command over those forces committed to NATO, not the entire military of a member state. However, every member have a say and a need to know of all member's intents. In other words, Putin would know 1st hand what's going on and can raise enough ruckus to seriously delay any US actions. France, Belgium, and Germany did that to the Turkish defence action.

well about india & russia the relations have improved further after the fall of USSR.snce now india too has become very imp for Russia .We have commn problems like terrorism inour backyards.Good arms dealings lot of jont military research going on.Frankly theres merely any straining issue.Russians have in all their military supplies to india and chineese have made sure( by giving indians a better technology) that chineese who can buy more donot gain a significant edge over the indians. We have joint fighter development program going on, a successful joint cruise missile development program jsut completed with the product that is unmachable in performance. Frnkly in these circumstances india in UNSC permanent seat is surely good for india .But again how much power does this council ahve any way.Americans have been acting like a policeman all over the place and the council cant do a **** about it .

WELL, I DONT THINK WE ARE LIKE A POLICE MAN, BUT WE DO WHAT WE WANT, WHEN WE WANT. INDIA AND PAKISTAN STILL HAVE THEIR BALLISTIC MISSILES AND WARHEADS TO ATTACH TO THEM :p. PLUS, IN THE SECURITY COUNCIL RUSSIA AND FRANCE ARE FRIENDS. THEY STILL HOLD POWER THROUGH OUT THE U.N. IN A COUPLE OF YEARS GERMANY AND INDIA WILL JOIN THE SECURITY COUNCIL. 2 ADDITIONAL FRIENDS FOR RUSSIA. I BET IN 1 DECADE THE BRITTISH WILL NOT BE OUR FRIENDS. AFTER ALL WHO WANTS TO PLAY 2ND FIDDLE TO THE "GREAT ONE" FOR EVER RIGHT?

Sadly Saying Like Every Great Empire, The U.s. Will One Day Fall. We Will Lose Our Allies One Day For All The Crap We Pull Around The World. I Mean, We Give Two Guys Guns, And We Start A War Between The Two. Then We Gang Up On One Of The Guys And Slaughter Them To Maintain Power. One By One, Countries Will Hate Us Even More Then They Already Do. I Do Believe 3/4 Of The World Hates Us Anyways. They Just Keep A Good Relationship With Us On The Service, So They Are Protected.

Not quite true. While it is very true that the Chinese and Indians are buying different packages, there is not anything substantially different or superior from one product to the other. US Colonels Blasko and Allen have examined in detail the two buys and all that is different is that what both nations wanted individually and not what the Russians wanted to sell differently.

We're going to have to wait for the Integrated Battle Group TOE to answer this question but the exercises that is supposed to be the basis for Cold Start would point to small and fat, ie, maximun force is the smallest echelon possible, possibly brigade or division.

                              Sir,
The Integrated Battle Group TOE will have to differ in its composition (as is going to be Pakistan specific). The IBG in plains will be different from the IBG for mountains, giving more options and locations for the short sharp engagements that would be planned. I guess more mobile/armour elements for the plains and more arty resources for the mountain IBGs, but thats elementary. The terrain and tasking of the IGBs would play a big role in the TOE.

                              Cheers!...on the rocks!!
