What I am wondering is why doesn't the US have something like this, one would think it would be awsome for Rapid Deployment in support of Airborne Forces.

Good question. The Soviets practically had airborne mechanized divisions with their BMD's, ASU-85's, and the SP 120 mortar. Nobody in the west has even come close, even though there are things like the Wiesel (the Wiesel II is longer, has an extra roadwheel, and could be the basis of a whole family of vehicles) and the British Scorpion series.

That thing is 17 tons, num nuts;)

        The Weasel weighs 2.8 tons!

You could probley airdrop about 6 of them from a C-130.

We are making something unmanned like this and it is gonna weight about 6 tons carry 4-8 anti-tank missiles and have a 30mm Chain Gun. Could be handy. Problem is what if the gun jams, better have some troops around to fix it.

I think we should get all the armor experts on this forum togeather and design our own LAV :)

For an early entry vehicle I would like something like the FCS Tracked Chasis with a 120mm Gun on it with about 30 rounds and another one with the same Chasis but has a 30mm Chain Gun and can carry as many infantry dismounts as the bradley. Also lastly a version with the AMOS turret on it for fire support (24, 120mm rounds per minute).

It is way too light for any effective arm'd action. Better off with some arm'd HUMVEEs.

Yep. Twice as heavy as a Scorpion or BMD, no APC to go with it. Built around the failed Shillalagh 152mm gun/missile launcher that scambled the electronics every time they fired a conventioanl round.

The Sheridan was a decent light armored vehicle.

That 152mm gun will kill an APC or IFV quite dead, and has a big-fat explosive content for anti personnel use.

                    And it's air droppable.

What can this little tankita do that a Heavy Hummer can't?

Actually, the one unit this tankita would make sense for is the US 101st Airborne Div.
