100,000 Pakistanis visited India in 2005
    By Iftikhar Gilani

NEW DELHI: The relative India-Pakistan bonhomie over the past two years has seen a considerable increase in the number of Pakistanis visiting India. While only 9,253 Pakistanis visited India in 2003, the number jumped to 67,416 in 2004 and 94,057 in 2005.

In contrast, just 991 people from Azad Kashmir have visited Indian-held Kashmir on travel permits since the start of two intra-Kashmir buses. About 246 of them legally crossed the Line of Control and the rest used buses to reach IHK, Minister of State for Home Sriprakash Jaiswal told the Lok Sabha on Tuesday.

Jaiswal also said that the government had received a Supreme Court notice on a petition by the Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party, seeking to restrain the IHK government from entertaining applications from AJK people for restoration of their properties in IHK. The matter is sub judice, he added.

Jaiswal said Bangladeshis topped the list of visitors from neighbouring countries to India, adding that 497,722 Bangladeshis travelled to India in 2003, 490,821 in 2004 and 485,640 in 2005. The number of visitors from other neighbours last year was 137,661 from Sri Lanka, 79,736 from Nepal, 44,340 from China, 8,126 from Bhutan and 42,245 from Thailand.

Jaiswal reeled out the statistics on foreigners’ visits to India in a written reply to a question by Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Dharmendra Pradhan. He said that the number of visitors to India had been increasing every year, jumping from 2.8 million in 2003 to over 3.4 million in 2004 and about 4 million in 2005. The United Kingdom topped the list in terms of tourists to India and the United States was second.

These are the legal visitors. I wonder what would be the actual number if the terrorists crossing over from LoC are included aswell.

        Visa curbs on Pak nationals
        Tribune News Service

        New Delhi, December 29
Alarmed by the involvement of a large number of Pakistani nationals in various terrorists and anti-national activities in India, the Central Government is contemplating to impose stringent visa regime for Pakistan nationals and undertake a drive to round up those who have overstayed in the country.

Even as New Delhi, in the aftermath of attack on Parliament on December 13 last year, had made 100 per cent pre-verification of Pakistan nationals seeking visa compulsory, the Centre is considering a proposal to get undertakings from local sponsors of Pakistani visitors in order to hold them responsible for the whereabouts of their guests till the time they left the country.

This was revealed at a press conference here today by Minister of State for Home Vidyasagar Rao.

Expressing concern over increasing cases of Pakistani nationals overstaying or going underground in India, he said all state governments had been empowered by the Centre to identify, nab and deport those staying in the country beyond the time permitted in their visas or had gone missing.

“The state governments have also been asked to launch special drives to nab the Pakistani nationals staying here illegally. State police forces and the foreigners registration offices have been empowered to nab and deport them,” he said.

However, he said the government was also contemplating granting citizenship on humanitarian grounds to aged persons who had their kin here or those women who had married Indian nationals on a case to case basis.

Mr Rao said of a total of 11,208 cases of Pakistanis who had entered India legally but were overstaying, as many as 2,324 among them had gone missing without trace.

“You need only one Osama bin Laden to cause a disaster,” he said adding that it was found that 90 per cent of Pakistanis seeking Indian visas were furnishing false addresses.

As per the latest statistics available with the Home Ministry, 151 Pakistani nationals are either overstaying or “untraceable” in Punjab alone, 72 in Jammu and Kashmir 391 in Haryana, 988 in Uttar Pradesh, 946 in Madhya Pradesh and 1707 in Maharashtra.

While the practice of “100 per cent pre-verification” of Pakistanis seeking visas would continue, the Ministry was also going to install computer software at points of entry and exit in different parts of the country so that information about foreigners were available to authorities concerned all over the country, he said.

Following the Simla Agreement, India and Pakistan had signed an accord on the issuance of passports which entitled nationals of both countries to visit a maximum of three places. The accord also restricted the issue of visas only for meeting relatives or for diplomatic purposes.

However, New Delhi had unilaterally increased the number of places which could be visited by the Pakistanis to 12 and had also started issuing tourist visas, Mr Rao said.

The proposal now was to restrict the maximum number of places to three as before, he said, adding that stoppage of granting extension on tourist visas was also being considered.

        Quite a few overstay.

It is not that they are terrorists, it is just that they possibly find living conditions better.

India, Pakistan don't like each other: Survey
            Saturday, 23 September , 2006, 12:01

Washington: Notwithstanding recent CBMs and peace initiatives between India and Pakistan, people from both the countries continue to view each other in an "unfavourable" and "negative" light, according to an international survey report.

The two South Asian neighbours are not alone in their acrimonious relationship, with people from China and Japan also showing equal dislike for each other.

The report also found that Indians "overwhelmingly" support improved relations with the United States (70 per cent), and 75 per cent of Indians who know about the proposed nuclear deal between the two countries support it.

But a majority of Indians believe China will overtake the US as the dominant world power, although the Chinese themselves were less optimistic about it.

According to the Pew Global Attitudes Project survey, which was released on Thursday, 50 per cent of Indian respondents find Pakistan "unfavourable" while only 33 per cent gave them the "favourable" tag. Among the Pakistani respondents, 67 per cent regard Indians as unfavourable.

Among their other neighbours, the Chinese and Japanese express general unfavourable views of Pakistan, while The Chinese tend to feel negatively towards India. Also, more than half of American respondents had unfavourable views of Pakistan.

The six-nation survey—conducted in India, Pakistan, China, Japan, the US and Russia—found that China's growing military strength was seen as threatening by neighbours India, Russia and Japan. Even its burgeoning economy was considered a bad thing by half of Indians.
So their friendship is not REALLY taller than the tallest mountains and deeper than the deepest oceans?

Thank you for all the links.

It is good to know that Indian women are doing a yeoman's service for the sterile. Quite a selfless work towards humanity actually.

I presume your educational level is not quite of the requisite standard to understand the concept of being surrogate mothers as against pure unbridled sex.

Apparently your level of understanding science and procreation is limited to the theological instructions from your rather education challenged theological instructors with flowing luxuriant hirsute physiognomies, whose knowledge that has been passed on you hovers around the pubic region whenever motherhood is mentioned and equates with the penetration of the penile organ. Surrogate motherhood does not involve penile penetration. But given the andecdotes of theological instructors around your parts, one would realise that the modes of procreation was not encouraged to be learnt in the correct perspective and instead the wonders of penile penetration into the male rectum was accepted as the delights of life!

Thus your post does appear a trifle skewed and sympathy worthy that formal education is deprived to so many of the poverty ridden countries as is the misuse of children in practising biological deviation!

I do hope that safe sex was practiced.

It is believed that AIDS does affect the mind and the posts do indicate some mental disturbances.

                        http://www.abc.net.au/news/newsitems...4/s1609184.htm

A New South Wales Supreme Court judge has rejected a claim by a Sydney gang-rapist that his strict Pakistani upbringing meant he did not know his actions were wrong.

Justice Peter Hidden has today sentenced two Sydney brothers, who can only be known as MSK and MAK, for a range of sexual assaults against two teenage girls at the brothers' home in Ashfield in 2002.

The brothers are already serving lengthy sentences for the gang-rape of two other teenage girls and MSK will now serve up to 28 years in jail, and MAK will serve up to 19 years.

MSK claimed his family's strict moral and cultural upbringing in Pakistan explained his offences, which has angered one of his victims, Tegan Wagner.

And then there is the social stigma attached to carrying the child of a man who is not her husband. "
