  • Saw the movie, Jarhead

It was an entertaining story but nowhere as close as to the classic war movies, Apoclypse Now or Full Metal Jacket.

Even it didn't even come close to BlackHawk Down or the Three Kings. But still entertaining. I guess the problem was that the guy didn't do much (see how his sniper partner went nuts after being denied the "perfect shot") but saw a lot of bad things. I guess his biggest complaint that he didn't do anything to warrant shedding a lot of sweat and blood. The bit near at the end was ironic. Guys shooting their rifles out after being drilled and displined so long as not to fire off rifles like maniacs or "ragheads".

My only complaint is that for an R rated movie, there was no gratitious sex or nudity. Just a brief flash of **** and a grainy shot of home made porn. But it was funny the way Swoff characterises his boredom: Hydrate, masterbate, patrol, masterbate, hydrate, clean gun, masterbate, hydrate blah blah.

That is dissapointing. Not the lack of sex part, the part that you were not too impressed with it. :) I was going to rent it tonight, but it was all out, so I was going to go back Sunday night.

I saw at a movie theater here in Spain, it just came out a few weeks ago. I liked it, although i agree with you, it wasn't quite what i expected. I think it was more of a political-bashing movie, than a war film.

I would have to say it was 1/4 what happened in desert storm. 3/4 what he did while there.
This movie was not what I expected but I still liked it.

It was actualy remarkably true to the book, at least by Hollywood standards.

I tried to watch it last night. I made it about an hour into it and turned it off. Not what I was expecting. Maybe all the good stuff happened in the last hour and I missed it all, though. If that is the case, then I am going to have to have just missed it 'cause I can't sit through that again.

Imagine watching Teletubbies...in Japanese...with no subtitles...in black and white...I'd take Teletubbies.

I have never seen it, but I imagine it to be more of a character movie rather than a war movie in the classic sense.

I wouldn't watch it. I hate character movies with a plot. I just want to see things blow up, preferably by a hot chick.

you're not missing anything. I am overly dissapointed as I read the book THEN waited to see the movie at home so I did not get bothered by other people sitting around me. then I saw it. *sigh* I really had this movie built up big in my mind that it was going to be soooo good.
