I personally "cannibilized" the quick release towing Pelican Hook off the Mamie and two cargo winches off the Chicago.
Whatever works. Still, it sounds like a happenstance that something off a CA/CG would work for a BB.

Well it all depends on what you're talking about. Some things, especially from that era, are going to be common to everything from DD to CL to CA to BB to CV, like nearly any part needed for the 5-inch/38 guns.
“He was the most prodigious personification of all human inferiorities. He was an utterly incapable, unadapted, irresponsible, psychopathic personality, full of empty, infantile fantasies, but cursed with the keen intuition of a rat or a guttersnipe. He represented the shadow, the inferior part of everybody’s personality, in an overwhelming degree, and this was another reason why they fell for him.”

But when it comes down to it, Many parts are not interchangable between Left gun and Right gun in the duel 5"-38 mounts including the internal breech parts.

The only real difference is that the breeches, slides and rams are mirror images of each other. Otherwise barrels, motors, hand wheels, pointer sights etc. are fully interchanable. 5"/38 twin guns from a Gearing class Destroyer would fit very well on any of the three classes of "Fast" Battleships.

The main difference is the gun shield itself. On the destoyers it's mostly 1/4" thick STS armor plate with the exception (on some ships) of a thicker plate of steel on the left side to counter-balance the training motors on the right side. On the BB's the entire gunhouse is 2 1/2" thick STS.
Able to leap tall tales in a single groan.

Correct Mr'. L including the firing pins themselves and well as the single/auto firing fret lock. Left and right hand for left and right gun.

Now I know why the weight difference was so much different :red:
