If you could be on any Apollo mission,

    which one would you choose?

I was asked this a while ago and I had to think long and hard. On the one hand the J-missions were coolness, and I did consider 13 for the sheer adrenalin-problem-solving-thinking-outside-the-box.
In the end I settled for another, which I'll state later.

So which one would you fly, and why?

They all seemed cool to me. I'm not familiar enough with any specific mission to pick one, but I would choose one that included a space walk. Starts at 49 seconds into video.

Gemini was cool. Here's Dick Gordon going for a ride on the Agena

RIP Gordon. His ashes orbit earth. Is there a video of Gordon's ride. I can't find one.

    Pari, thanks.

Wonder what caused Gordon to tire so easily while he was out there working on the Agena.

I wonder if he got too much radiation?

From memory the suit was fine for floating about but was effectively just a big rubberized ballon, every time he tried to move his limbs it fought him. Secondly, almost unbelievably given the cutting edge work going on, no-one had thought to provide decent hand holds to manouver himself along the Gemini and Agena. he's riding it like that because he was having to hang on with thigh pressure.

Compare Gordon and White's suits with those of Cernan's and Schmitt's

Im really interested in this thread, as being a Gen X (Post all that rocket age stuff) we take all of that for granted, so getting some insight from members should be really interesting!

Tankie, "If" in your case is a like saying you will win Euromillions every time you enter it for the next decade.

YOU on a rocket? how would you get permission to carry the bottles on with you?

Chunder im interested as well , but have no desire to die just yet , that's why i said all of the successful ones ,the 1st man mission to the moon would have been cool , to boldly go where no'one has gone before , to seek out new civilisations ,,,,,,,,,

then rape n pillage and steal their resources (jokin)

I once commented on this rocket subject and its ultra fast development , approx 90 years after the gunfight at ok corral 1881 , humans set foot on the moon . That's faster than a tax avoidance scheme

But the best for me would have been a ride on the shuttle ,not Apollo i know, but plenty space in there for a grogg stash

Pari, why would you have to think long & hard about this one ?

This has got to be THE one everybody would have loved to be on.

The ones that were on it are immortal.
