I can literally go outside in a T-shirt, play fall sports, comfortably at a time of year when I'd otherwise die of exposure in 30 minutes to an hour.
Can't do it today - temp dropped 25 degrees last night and it's about 5 degrees here in Columbia Heights. Darned Canadians and their air!

Holy shiite global warming is bad!!! Temperature dropped to 36F, that's around 1C, early morning here in southern California. And that's near the beach, not in the desert. We must stop the build up of greenhouse gases because I'm not sure if I can stand any more global warming.

By the way, I just noticed something. Most of the nuclear powers stopped atmospheric testing of nukes in the 1960s. Most of the data cited by Al Gore in "An Inconvenient Truth" was from 1970s on. Coincidence? Correlation? Cause and effect?

All this global warming is cooling things off. 8 deg. far. in central coast 25 miles inland outskirts of Paso Robles. These nuts want global cooling? Maybe they long for the dark ages all over again. Al Gore needs to go back to his other pet projects like inventing the Internet and opening up dams for photo-ops. What was his job in his village he came from?
Irascible Al is on the Gore path to election 2008.

I want to issue a correction to my post above.

It was 34F, not 36F, early Sunday morning.

    That's around 1C.

Climate Change news from Yahoo! News

Nuclear, climate perils push Doomsday Clock ahead

Reuters - Wed Jan 17, 2:22 PM ET
WASHINGTON - The scientists who mind the Doomsday Clock moved it two minutes closer to midnight on Wednesday -- symbolizing the annihilation of civilization and adding the perils of global warming for the first time. The Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, which created the Doomsday Clock in 1947 to warn the world of the dangers of nuclear weapons, advanced the clock to five minutes until midnight. It was the first adjustment of the clock since 2002.
Wow, the perils of global warming. Have these people looked outside their windows in the last week?

If global warming makes our winter colder, then will the ice age make our summer hotter?

I swear this fake clock would explode if it was around during the last ice age.

I saw an item on the news in the past couple of days about some islanders who have had to completely leave their home of generations due to the incessant sea rise which has now turned arable pastures into salty quagmires.

Multiply this by the predicted 3 metre (I think) rise in sea level in the next 40 years and a goodly percentage of land will vanish under the waves and the population will be even more crowded into ihgh(er) ground.

Our childrens children children will despise us for what we have done!

On the subject of winters, this winter in the UK has got to be one of the warmest on record. I was driving to work at 0700 hrs this morning and the temp said 11C !!

California just lost more than 2/3 of our citrus crop due to "global warming"...wait, I'm sorry, "climate change."

For 3 decades leading up to the 70s the world feared the next ice age was imminent because of a steady drop in temperature.

Fast forward 3 dacades, now the world fears "global warming" because the temperature has been rising for 2 decades, in parts of the world. Parts are actually getting colder.

Give it 3 decades, the ice age will return.

The world right now overall gets warmer. Satellite photos show it , statistics show it...

Actually predictions of exteme weather conditions even cold spells like in Texas etc have been part of modells of the "doomsayers" for a long time.

Only if somebody takes the meaning of the label global warming and expects only warmer weather .

I would like to ask a few questions Gunnut what is:

    1. Dont you believe the world gets warmer? =>Statictics are false etc?

    2. In case the world gets warmer is it a natural process or a man made/influenced process? (I would like to know what you blame then for the perceived raise in temperature)

    3. The theory that CO2 is reponsible for global warming is false. CO2 emmisons canīt influence the planet.

    4. Global warming if it occurs isnīt bad. You adept thats it?

The world is not getting "warmer" as in warmer than it has ever been. It's returning to the normal temperature about a millenium ago.

It's natural. The earth warms up and the earth cools down. Nothing much we can do about it, especially in a short span of 3 decades.

The "green house effect" is theorized on a microscopic level. We have not had a chance to experiment it on a global scale. There are things in nature that are completely unexpected, and cannot be expected by us mere mortals.

There is no global warming. The earth is merely coming out of a cold snap that lasted a thousand years. The earth was warmer than this 1000 years ago.

What you read is patent nonsense.

    I have simple proof,
Where I live in the central coast area of California the depth of the water has not change in at least 40 years. The hightide mark is the same. How can you explain this? Please explain this? Please read this whole thread.
I do personally believe the globe is warming and will be a net gain for the inhabitants. Read the other ideas from scientist not just the alarmist views.

I thought it was because California was actually rising west of the Fault, prior to the "big split"? I could be wrong though.

The Sierra mountain range is rising slightly.

The Sierra Nevada range is about 120 miles from Morro Bay. There has not been any significant elevation change either in the coast line that I have heard of.
Coral reefs deteriorate and calve off as they grow. The thickness and weight of the corral reefs compress the older deeper portions of the reefs in a settling sort of fashion. This process could account for why people think the ocean level is rising.
Over time and more warming of the globe the ocean will probably rise. This will take many years and preparations for that eventuality will take place as needed.

I did read somewhere last year that the point of no return, unless something is done, is 2050
