This is a thread where I intend to bombard the good users of WAB with cool pics and vids of the "King of Battle". Its going to be very Triple 7 oriented as that is my baby, and I regularly trawl the "interweb" for pics and vids, howeverfeel free to post any cool pics or vids showcasing the magnificence that is the Field Artillery. Mortar pics and vids only allowed if its really really REALLY cool ;)

First some down range vids from the guys from Ft Bragg. 1-321 AFAR.

This also by 1st Battalion, has some of the same footage, but still a cool vid.

Here we have they guys hitting a ridgeling from where they took incoming. Listen to the chatter in the back ground at 2:06 :)

And finally......for now. We have some footage of the first Combat use of the Triple 7 courtesy of Echo Battery 2 RCHA.

    More to follow.

        There was.:))

Guys from 1-321 FA seemed engaged in some H.A. direct fire. Interesting engagement. Offhand, range to target seemed about 10K but altitude and thin air could have been further than I thought. Witnessing impacts from the gun pos isn't standard fare back in the states but when you sit at the bottom of a bowl I suppose it's natural that you're going to be taking fire on a regular basis. The only thing I'd imagine the taliban have that might range them would be rockets from that distant ridgeline. Fired electrically, I doubt that anybody was there by the time rounds arrived. TOF was pretty long, obviously.

        I got mine, A.E. Thanks.

*Sorry S-2 I meant artist drawings, That is not to say though that their firing was not artistic in the sense of the art of gunnery itself.:))

Totally understood. My libido can be moved by poetry in motion on a gunline though.

Not quite lithe nymphet ballerinas but,...there's a certain grace, sorta...kinda.:))

You have made Mrs Gun Grape a very satisfied woman

Although me yelling "Rounds Complete on #3" at the end did put a damper on her mood.

Question about the 777. I've noticed that the #1 man closes the breech than jumps off the carriage before the gun fires. In all of you videos

Is that a safety thing, or do they just need one of us old guys to show them how to ride the trails? I mean how can you "Grab Grease" 3 steps away from the gun?

Well spotted, its actually the No 2 man on the left. No 1 is over on the right with the AG, he runs the loading tray and pull the lanyard. Easiest Job in the section.

You can ride no prob, at least up to a 7 White ;) 7 Red and the 8 Stick can be a bit exciting. Ill dig up some vids of the No 2 man staying on. "The Book" says step of however (Safety Folks made us put that in). But the real reason you will usually see him steping off is either to get teh swab as he hasnt placed the bucket close enough to just reach round to get. Or due to the fact that no one has a full section, he may have to run back to the Ammo pit to get the charge.

Just for the heck of it here is the 8 Stick being shot at 343mils QE

These guys actually dispensed with the No1 man and the AG is taking care of everything on the right hand side.

                      Regards

Troops have plenty of cash down on the gun-line if those lasses wish to get close to some "long shooters".;)

I'm sure everybody concerned would be better for the experience.:))
