He has ranted against the NGOs who have taken up the cause of Pakistan’s rape victims, to the point of branding them terrorists. And now, even as he claimed Pakistan’s record on women’s rights is comparable to that of developed countries, he took potshots at rape victims.

Mental midgetry is your forte i see. Let me help you out here. Musharraf said that some opportunistic women make up cases of rape against them, in order to seek asylum in other countries. He is stating this trend is not rare, but is a moneymaking scam perpetrated by some folk in Pakistan. False accounts of rape occur in every society all over the world. Some women do it to get back at a man, some women will do it to seek a better way of life. The latter is what Musharraf is referring to. You have to seperate out the genuine cases from the false ones, first. This can only be done when a proper trial has been given to the woman. Your idiotic title complete with semi-literate grammatical errors is incorrect as Musharraf did not say "get raped, become millionaires", but rather he said "the mentalilty is get raped, become millionaires", by some people.

ummm any person with enough comprehension of the English language would know that Musharraf was pointing towards people who've been faking rapes, these days. And for those who are not seeking justice after really getting raped, but seeking some nice political assylum grounds to apply for a visa in a 1st world country.

Musharraf was asked a question about Mukhtaran Mai when he made the reply. I am assuming that Musharraf can comprehend english and his reply was hinting, if not alleging, that Mukhtaran (and other Pakistani rape victims) had faked the rape just for publicity and money.

Now, generally I'm not a femenist, but a President who bans the travel of the rape victims and not the accused, and who has a history of pardoning rapists and nuclear proliferators, albeit by directly poking his nose in the independent judiciary, it shows the kind of rule of justice in President Musharrafistan.

That's your interpretation. my interpretation is that if he lets Mukhtar Mai go abroad he has to allow every other defendant go abroad as well. That would be the prescedent. He's just stating that that is the reason she is not allowed to go abroad. She might never come back to Pakistan again to finish her trial if the women's groups in America kick up enough fuss she'll be granted asylum or a green card. If he lets her go, he'll have to let the rest go and they in turn may not return.

Do you think that all women that allege they have been raped, have indeed been raped? It's very woman friendly of you, but fantazise that you could actually get a woman for a moment and say she accused you of raping her when you did not, would you still be of the same opinion?

Also get your facts right, idiot. The accused are being held till the trial is over, they're not allowed abroad for the samr reason as Mukhtar Mai, in fact she has been given freedom to move about, whilst the accused are being held. And Mush has never pardoned any rapist to finish off the rebuttal to your nonsense.

Who is "he" to decide where this lady wants to go? Doesn't she have the right to make her own decisions. Your reasoning to back Musharraf's decision to keep her under house arrest is piss poor. Mukhtaran, regardles of being a rape victim, is an adult and has all the right to take her life decisions.

And after making a fools of yourself and the people you represent, you resent to personal flames. Not unexpected when there is a lack of credible and sane argument. Keep it up!

Unless ofcourse the rapist is from the Army and the victim is a Baloch. You need to read Pakistani newspapers, not PDF all the time.
