Blasts meant to reactivate Punjab's militant movement?
TIMES NEWS NETWORK[ WEDNESDAY, JUNE 01, 2005 02:28:01 AM ] http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/a...ow/1128534.cms NEW DELHI: The twin blasts in Delhi cinema halls were not to protest against the screening of the controversial movie Jo Bole So Nihaal, but to reactivate Punjab militancy by seemingly defunct organisations. One of the top leaders of Babbar Khalsa International (BKI), Satnam Singh had told his associates in Stuttgart in December last year, that it was high time something was done in Delhi and Chandigarh. "We can't say that that the blast was to protest against the screening of the movie because the attack had been planned as early as December 2004," said top cop K K Paul. According to the police, it was a joint operation by several former Punjab militant organisations and the possibility of it being aided by J&K terror groups can't be ruled out as the RDX for the attack was arranged from Jammu. Balwinder Singh (24), who was arrested from Nawanshahar, was chosen to execute the plan apparently because of his past association with BKI. "A school dropout from Nawanshahar, he was currently unemployed. He has two sisters, both settled in the US. Balwinder and Jaspal are childhood friends," said joint commissioner of police (special cell) Karnal Singh. According to the police, for Jaspal and Balwinder carrying out the attack was a matter of ideology, but the other two, Vikas and Jagannath, got involved because of the money offered to them. Jagannath (36), in fact, belongs to Gorakhpur and earlier worked with a factory in Moti Nagar. He left the job and started working as a driver with a Karol Bagh jeweller. The police, however, describe him as a smuggler who was ostensibly running a courier agency on the Indo-Nepal border for the last few years. He had also managed to purchase a house in Uttam Nagar recently. Jaspal's father apparently deals in foreign currency. The family members on Tuesday told the police that he can't be involved in the blasts because he had gone to Australia four years ago and did not return. Very little is known about Vikas, the fourth accused, barring the fact that he is unemployed. ________________________________ Is Sikh militancy on revival mode? Jaideep Sarin (IANS) Chandigarh, June 3, 2005 http://www.hindustantimes.com/news/181_138...00900010001.htm The first week of June every year is a troublesome month for some people in Punjab. This time it is no different and the ghost of Sikh militancy has come to haunt the state again this week. The decision by the Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee - the religious parliament of Sikhs - to build a memorial to those killed in the Indian Army's assault on the Golden Temple in 1984 has revived painful memories of Punjab's brush with terrorism in the 1980's and 90's. Indian troops stormed the Golden Temple, the holiest Sikh shrine, in Amritsar in June 1984 to flush out Sikh militants led by Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale. Besides militants, many innocents too died in the military operation. The week is observed as "Ghallughara week" in Punjab to highlight the killings that took place. Just a couple of days before the 21st anniversary of the attack, the SGPC announced its plan to have a memorial for those killed in the "Operation Bluestar". The announcement would not go down well with authorities, as they know that the memorial would be more to terrorists than innocent civilians who were killed in the offensive. Soon after the SGPC announcement, the Damdami Taksal - a Sikh religious organisation once headed by Bhindranwale - declared finally that Bhindranwale, a man who once held sway in Punjab, was indeed dead. The acknowledgement came 21 years after Bhindranwale was actually killed in Operation Bluestar on June 6, 1984. All along, the Taksal had maintained that Bhindranwale was "alive" and did not let anyone occupy his seat in the organisation. Coupled with this was the bomb blasts in two New Delhi cinema halls during the screening of Hindi movie "Jo Bole So Nihal" on May 22 that killed one person and left 60 injured. The police nabbed three suspects this week for the blasts, two of them from the once dreaded Babbar Khalsa International, a Sikh terrorist organisation. Though Sikh terrorism was snuffed out in 1993, attempts to revive it have been made from time to time. In January last year, three top Babbar Khalsa terrorists involved in the conspiracy of assassination of former Punjab Chief Minister Beant Singh escaped from the high security Burail jail complex in Chandigarh. They were believed to have crossed into a neighbouring country after escaping through a 108-foot-long tunnel dug from their high security barrack. Nearly half a dozen senior Punjab and Chandigarh police officials who investigated the jailbreak and arrested one of its masterminds - Narain Singh Chaura - are now facing life threats. Chaura, who was let off by a court last month, had alleged that these officers had tortured him while in custody. The Punjab and Chandigarh police were beefing up security of these officers and their families in view of the latest threats. |

KZF militant arrested
Tribune News Service http://www.tribuneindia.com/2005/200...punjab1.htm#11 Gurdaspur, June 2 The Pathankot police arrested Atarjit Singh, an alleged militant of the Khalistan Zindabad Force (KZF), and handed him over to the Haryana police. Sources available here said that the said terrorist was arrested by the Pathankot police after bomb blasts in Delhi theatres screening “Jo Bole So Nihal” film. The police here was suspecting his involvement in the bomb blasts. However, nothing came out of the arrest of Atarjit Singh. Besides the Punjab police, Atarjit Singh was also allegedly interrogated by other intelligence agencies to get information regarding the Delhi blasts. Atarjit Singh was wanted by the Haryana police in a dacoity case. The Haryana police took Atarjit Singh in its custody from the Pathankot police recently. Atarjit Singh, a resident of the RS Pora area of Jammu, was earlier arrested by the Punjab police on the charge of carrying out a series of bomb blasts in Pathankot and its surrounding areas in 1997. Many people lost their lives in the bomb blasts. _____________________________ Shiromani Khalsa Dal chief gets life imprisonment - Daljit Singh Bittu (left) and Gurcharan Singh Gama (right) come out of the courtroom after being sentenced to life imprisonment for killing Ashok Bedi by the designated TADA court in Jalandhar on Saturday. — A Tribune photograph Bittu, Gama get life term Tribune News Service http://www.tribuneindia.com/2005/20050605/main3.htm Jalandhar, June 4 Daljit Singh Bittu, president of the Shiromani Dal Khalsa and a former chief of the All-India Sikh Students Federation, and his associate Gurcharan Singh Gama were sentenced to life imprisonment by a Special Tada Court headed by Additional Sessions Judge S.K. Garg here today. They were nominated as accused by the police on April 24, 1996, after conducting a probe in killing of Ashok Bedi, a son of former police officer Raj Kishan Bedi. Ashok Bedi, who was running an auto centre in Bhai Bala chowk of Ludhiana, was allegedly killed by two unidentified persons who had sprayed bullets on him from close range. The incident, which had taken place on night of June 10, 1986, had also left four friends of Ashok Bedi injured and separate cases had been registered in the Police Division No. 5 of Ludhiana under TADA, the Arms Act and Sections 302 and 307 of the IPC. Both Bittu and Gama were arrested from Nurpur Bedi in 1996. Handing over the sentence, Mr Garg sentenced them to life imprisonment and a fine of Rs 2000 in a case registered under Section 302 of the IPC. They were sentenced to seven years plus a fine of Rs 2000 in the case registered under Section 307 of the IPC and to 10 years of imprisonment in the TADA case. They would have to pay a fine of Rs 2000 in the TADA case also and failure of payment of fine could result in a six months’ in jail for them. The judgement was pronounced by the court amides tight security arrangements. Earlier, an eyewitness had identified Bittu and Gama as accused. Talking to mediapersons, Bittu and Gama, however, said everything took place under pressure exerted by the father of Ashok Bedi. Though they did not make any comment on the judgement, they alleged that the government did not want them to come out of prison. |

Two more held in Delhi blasts case
Tribune News Service http://www.tribuneindia.com/2005/20050606/main4.htm Jalandhar, June 5 The Nawanshahr police has arrested two Babbar Khalsa International militants and a recovery of one kilogram RDX, 11 detonators and other explosive material such as cordex wires has been made from them. Mr Parmjit Singh Gill, DIG, Jalandhar Range, said the BKI activists have been identified as Bahadur Singh and Gurdip Singh Kaka, both residents of Malpur village near Rahon in Nawanshahr district today. The arrest was said to be a coordinated effort of the Nawanshahr police and officials of the Delhi police, who have been carrying out searches in Punjab after arrest of Balwinder Singh, a BKI activist and his associates, who were allegedly responsible for recent blast in Delhi’s Satyam and Liberty Cinema halls. Jaspal Singh Raja, the kingpin of the blast episode was still absconding. Mr Gill said interrogation of Balwinder Singh had helped the Delhi and Nawanshahr police to arrest the two accused and recovery of explosive material. He said more arrests and recoveries could not be ruled out. The BKI headed by Wadhawa Singh Babbar, it was learnt, was the only militant outfit which was still left with expertise and capability to mastermind bomb blasts. A case has been registered at Rahon police station under various sections of Explosives Act. Mr Gill said the Delhi and the Nawanshahr police were likely to carry out more raids in search of accomplices of Jaspal Singh Raja. |

Separatists come centre stage at Amritsar
IANS[ MONDAY, JUNE 06, 2005 04:36:15 PM ] http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/a...64,curpg-1.cms AMRITSAR: Separatists took the centre stage on Monday at a function here to mark the 21st anniversary of Operation Bluestar - the Indian Army campaign to flush out terrorists from the Golden Temple. They shouted slogans in favour of Khalistan - a homeland for the Sikh community - in a charged atmosphere inside the Golden Temple complex in front of hundreds of the devout that had thronged the holiest Sikh shrine. Nearly 100 separatists got on to the stage, brandishing swords and shouting pro-Khalistan slogans, and demanded that Sikhs should fight for a separate homeland that would serve as a buffer state between India and Pakistan. Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) president Jagir Kaur and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Parkash Singh Badal were forced to beat a hasty retreat from the event as the radicals and separatists took over. Both leaders were not allowed to speak and had to face slogans against them. Policemen in plain clothes kept a watch on Monday's proceedings from a distance as they are not allowed to enter the temple complex in uniform. No ceremony was held Monday to lay the foundation stone for a memorial to those killed inside the Golden Temple complex during Operation Bluestar in June 1984. The SGPC was unable to decide on laying the foundation stone following criticism of its announcement to raise the memorial. Confusion and chaos reigned at Monday's function as the separatists did not allow any other proceedings. They took the centre stage as soon as Joginder Singh Vedanti, head of the Akal Takht or the highest religious seat of the Sikh community, ended his sermon. Such pro-Khalistan slogans were openly raised at a public place after several years. Khalistan ideologue Jagjit Singh Chohan, radical Akali leader Simranjit Singh Mann, separatist Kanwarpal Singh Dhami and several other leaders gave provocative speeches at the event, asking Sikhs to fight for a "homeland". Leaders and activists from Damdami Taksal, a religious sect once led by Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, were present in large numbers in the traditional attire of Nihangs. Bhindranwale had led the separatist movement in Punjab in the early 1980s from inside the Golden Temple, and this led to an armed attack on the complex by the Indian Army to flush out heavily armed Sikh terrorists. Hundreds, including innocent devout, lost their lives in that operation. ________________ Remembering Operation Bluestar June 6, 2005 Sikhs hold posters showing the demolished Akal Takht, (regarded as the supreme seat of Sikh religious authority) and Bhai Amrik Singh, who was killed during Operation Bluestar in 1984, as they shout slogans in favour of a separate Sikh state in front of the Golden Temple on June 6, 2005. The assault on the Golden Temple complex (which includes the Akal Takht) by the army during the codenamed Operation Bluestar, was launched on June 3, 1984 to arrest Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, a Sikh leader and his militant followers who had initiated a movement for a separate Sikh state. Operation Blue Star: Fighting for Golden Temple
INDIATIMES NEWS NETWORK[ MONDAY, JUNE 06, 2005 01:00:01 PM ] Surf 'N' Earn -Sign innow The recent blasts in two Delhi Cinema halls have, once again, refreshed the public memory of a bloodily movement in Punjab that rocked the entire nation during the '80s. Delhi Police is now probing the role of Ranjeet Singh Neeta, leader of a defunct group called Khalistan Zindabad Force. The movement for a free Khalistan may seem very weak today, but twenty years ago, Punjab was the stage for mass killing by militants. By mid May 1984 the state was under the grip of terror for nearly three years. The terrorist movement seeking to carve an independent Punjab had acquired monstrous proportions. Terror attacks on politicians, law-enforcers, and the common man became almost an everyday affair. Heading this bloody movement was Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, a preacher turned separatist who ran the terrorist campaign allegedly from the holiest shrine of the Sikhs, Golden Temple in Amritsar. Till 1983 thousands of people were killed all over Punjab by armed brigades of young motorcycle-born terrorists who would suddenly come and with one burst of machine gun kill innocent people. In 1982, Bhindrenwale was arrested but was released in two days. In later half of 1982 he moved to Golden temple complex and allegedly setup his headquarters in Guru Ram Das Sarai. In 1984 he moved to Akal Takht. |

Bluestar fans Khalistan embers
GAJINDER SINGH http://www.telegraphindia.com/105060...ry_4836313.asp Amritsar, June 6: The demand for an independent state of Khalistan sprang back to centre-stage today after kirpan-wielding youths led by several Sikh separatist leaders raised slogans in the Golden Temple complex, vowing not to let Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale’s “sacrifice” go waste. Cries of “Khalistan zindabad” rose in the air as the 30,000 devotees, who had gathered for the 21st anniversary of Operation Bluestar and the martyrdom of Guru Arjan Dev nearly 400 years ago, nodded in agreement. When the day began at 7 am with special prayers at the Akal Takht, the highest Sikh temporal body, there was no hint the calm of the temple complex would be shattered for the first time in many years. But by 9, kirpan-wielding youths, led by Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) leader Simranjit Singh Mann, self-styled “President of Khalistan” Jagjit Singh Chauhan, Kanwarpal Singh of the Dal Khalsa and Harnam Singh Dhuma, the chief of Damdami Taksal, a seminary Bhindranwale headed, had taken over. They forced Jagir Kaur, the chief of the Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC), which manages all gurdwaras in the country, and Shiromani Akali Dal president and former chief minister Parkash Singh Badal to beat a hasty retreat. Both had earlier been booed as “traitors” for their moderate views. It was also the first time that the separatist elements acknowledged Bhindranwale as a martyr. They hung a placard declaring the Martyr’s Gallery on the ground floor of the Akal Takht as the only memorial to Bhindranwale, who spent his time there before the army surrounded the temple on June 2, 1984 during Operation Bluestar, and distributed free posters and booklets containing Bhindranwale’s speeches. “We demand the creation of Khalistan. After the new state is formed, it should act as a buffer between India and Pakistan. Bhindranwale’s sacrifice will not be allowed to go waste. Sikhs are a nation and (we) demand a separate state for us,” Mann said. The SGPC, which had earlier announced the construction of a memorial, Shaheed-e-Minar, in memory of those who died during Operation Bluestar, failed to lay the foundation stone. “The design and place are yet to be finalised,” Kaur said. In an exclusive chat with The Telegraph, Chauhan said he was pleased by the reaction of those who were present at the temple. “I am in regular touch with Wadhwa Singh of the Babbar Khalsa International, Paramjiot Singh Panjwar of the Khalistan Commando Force and Lakhbir Singh Rode of the Sikh Youth International to try and evolve a strategy to create Khalistan. I have also asked them to come back to India like I have done and work among the community here.” “Sikhs have suffered a lot under Delhi and it is time for a new non-violent movement to be launched or the creation of Khalistan. Since Sikhs do not interfere in the working of any other community, we would like to warn the state and the Centre against driving us to the wall. The Manmohan Singh government is a failure not only for the Sikhs but for the country as a whole.” Damdami Taksal chief Dhuma said Bhindranwale’s death anniversary would be observed in a big way at the seminary on June 12. “This is the first time we have accepted he is dead,” Dhuma added. Akal Takht jathedar Joginder Singh Vedanti rued that even after 21 years, the Centre “has not found it fit to pass a resolution in Parliament condemning” the 1984 army action, ordered by the then Congress government to flush out militants from the temple. He also said Congress leaders “involved” in the 1984 riots after then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi’s assassination “continue to enjoy prominence” in the government. This “failure”, he added, “continues to unnerve the Sikhs”. ******** Radicals, SGPC men clash near Akal Takht http://www.tribuneindia.com/2005/20050607/main4.htm - Activists of radical Sikh outfits hang a board of ‘Shaheed Gallery’ in front of Akal Takht on Monday in Amritsar. — Photo by Rajiv SharmaRadicals pip Badal to Bluestar memorial http://www.indianexpress.com/full_st...ntent_id=71829 Last edited by Punjab Ki Fauj : 06-07-2005 at 09:33 AM. |

so it has started... I thought the Sants were still doing religious sermons around the world... And it would take a couple more years to get world support.. I know that Sikhs in the USA are already at 100% in their support for Khalistan... In Canada the voices are not as loud, and in UK I don't know what is going on right now... They have rallies and parades remembering 84 and still speaking out for justice... IN january this year, 32 people were arrested, and 11 denied bail for holding the Kesari (Khalsa colour) Flag in Amritsar... And from the article, which is on present date, seems like they have started the uprisal...
I prey to god no innocent person gets killed.. I prey to god no Sikhs take up illegal action against any Hindu... Khalistan shall rise through peacefull means... Sikhs will say "we tried that in 84, then had to resort to violence just to protect our selves", because Indira had planned the attack on the Golden temple a full year before it took place... But now, Sikhs around the world have built a very strong community, and can get world support... Separate Homeland, live in peace with our Hindu brothers... Raj Karega Khalsa,,, Khalistan Zindabad!! Bole So Nihal... Sat Sri Akaal! |

________________________ Khalistan demand raised on genocide day YUDHVIR RANA TIMES NEWS NETWORK[ MONDAY, JUNE 06, 2005 04:41:16 PM ] http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/a...ow/1134911.cms AMRITSAR: The pent up secessionist emotions of Sikh radicals whipped up on the Genocide Day observed as Ardas Divas at Akal Takht on Monday, as a large number of Sikh youth including women brandishing naked swords raised slogans for Sikh's independent state Khalsitan while passing pejorative remarks against SAD-Badal president Parkash Singh Badal and SGPC president Bibi Jagir Kaur for not coming up to the aspirations of Sikhs and addressing their problems. The ferocity of slogans multiplied after Sikh radical leader Simranjit Singh Mann, president of SAD(Amritsar) announced that Sikhs's hurt feelings could only be assuaged when Sikhs independent state Khalistan comes into existence. He suggested that Khalistan could be created on the buffer zone between India and Pakistan. Baba Harnam Singh, 15th chief of Damdami Taksal joined Simranjit Singh Mann with his arms wielding supporters and announced to observe the martyrdom day of Sant Jarnail Singh Bhinderanwalae at Taksal's headquarters at Gurdwara Gurdarshan Parkash, Chowk Mehta on June 12. The radical activists including from Dal Khalsa, Dal Khalsa, SAD(A), Damdami Taksal , Sikh Students Federation (Bittu), Akal Federation jointly put up the board of Shaheedee Gallery at the gallery situated outside Akal Takht against the wishes of SGPC. A large number of Sikhs and converged at Akal Takht on the 21st anniversary of Operation Bluestar. Posters of demolished Akal Takht, Sikh militant leaders and pamphlet on the life of Jarnail Singh Bhinderanwalae were distributed among Sikh sangat . A large number of policemen in plain clothes and sleuths of various intelligence agencies were hovering around the Akal Takht and it's surrounding. A police officer of DSP rank remained present among Sikh sangat sitting infront of Akal Takht during the ceremony. Earlier Parkash Singh Badal and Bibi Jagir Kaur condemned congress government for rubbing salt to the wounds of Sikhs . About the postponement of foundation stone lying ceremony of Yadgara-e-Shaheedan, Badal said the foundation stone would be laid once its design was approved. Justifying the demand of Khalistan , Jagjit Singh Chauhan, a Khalistan ideologue said that they would peruse their mission thorough peaceful democratic means. Jathedar of Akal Tkaht, Giani Joginder Singh Vedanti presented siropas's to Ishar Singh, Mata Pritam Kaur son and wife of Jarnail Singh Bhinderanwalae and relatives of other martyrs. Earlier addressing the gathering he said it was unfortunate that even after 21 years of Operation Bluestar, the central government has not condemned the incident nor those responsible for the 1984 anti Sikh riots have been brought to books and Operation Bluestar was a black chapter in the history of independent India . The Sikhs had laid down their lives under the aegis of Sant Jarnail Singh Bhinderanwalae to protect the sacntitiy of gurdhams. Meanwhile Damdami Taksal presented photographs of Jarnail Singh, Amrik Singh , Shubeg Singh and Thara Singh to Jathedar of Akal Takht Giani Joginder Singh Vedanti for displaying them in the gallery. Vedanti however asked them to contmplate over their request. Meanwhile chief spokesperson of Damdami Taksal, Bhai Mohkam Singh said that they also performed ardas at the gallery's gate. He said panth would decide if there was no desirable reply from Jathedar. On the other hand SAD(A) had demanded to display the photograph of of Jarnail Singh Bhinderanwalae at central Sikh Museum , handing over of personal belongings of Bhinderanwale by his family, Taksal and Army to panth without any conditions, naming the road between Sri Guru Arjun Dev Niwas to Sri Hargobind Niwas on Sant Jarnail Singh Marg, setting up of a Sant Jarnail Singh Dharmik Vidya Kendar and beginning of Shaheed Bhai Amrik Singh Award for those schools helping to check apostism among Sikhs and General Shubeg Sigh Award to promote traditional sports. |

[quote=Punjab Ki Fauj]Hindus are not our brothers but yes Sikh will live in peace with anyone unless they are the first to interfere in our internal affairs or make aggressive moves against us.
Punjab Ki Fauj.. I am a true Khalistani.. If it took my life alone to form a Khalistan for Sikhs, I will R.I.P right there and then... When I say Hindus are our brothers, I don't include the perpretrators or the shameful cowards that did all that crap in 84.. those ones will pay, and pay they will dearly... WHen our gurus were roaming the earth, they fought for Hindus and protected Hindus just like they protected Sikhs... HIndus weren't fierce warriors then, and aren't fierce warriors now... To start a war against the whole Hindu race is not proper being a True Sikh... We are supposed to protect, and do seva.. not be the aggressors against the weak... There will be a Khalistan, I pray that it will be peacefully... but even if it is not, any means possible just like the Guru said, if it comes down to it, lift up the sword.. and that the Sikhs will do without fear of death... In every religion, there are cowards and shame full bastards... look at that Sikh officer in Punjab, they call him "the Butcher Of Punjab".. isnt he a sikh who had a hand in killing over a 150,000 sikhs in punjab? what do we call him? if all sikhs are brothers, He cannot be a sikh... He is a traitor, and when a Khalistan is formed, they will "NOT" live in peace... They will send out attacks against the congress, rss, that BUTCHER OF PUNJAB etc,... Sikhs will never forget what happened in 84'... But don't let that turn all sikhs against Hindus... there were Hindu families that saved sikhs... We have to remember that too.... And Punjab Ki Fauj, don't debate with me... I am on your side 100%... |
