If you want to talk about double standards the Nazis at Nuremburg were handled in a much more harsh fashion then the Tokyo defendants, hell even one of them became PM! Unlike the Germans the Allies never gave Japan the ever so unsubtle hint what your nation did was inherently wrong. What the alies said subtly at best, we dont approve of the methods you used to achieve what you wanted.
Then again at Tokyo we werent trying to placate Joe Stalin nor did the president have several million voters with an incentive to care how the Japanese were punished.

China also has a terrible past. Like the cultural revoluation. It's wars. That fight for democracy. Annexation of Tibet. Very, very sad. China's history textbooks are just as bad or even more bad than Japan's textbooks. It is just the people in China don't know this.
