Bringing back an old topic here. In my area I have noticed alot of people flying flags from Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, etc. Do any of the other American posters here see this, is it common in your areas or just mine because we have a huge immigrant population? Do you guys have a problem with this?

ex. Today I saw a car with a Mexican flag on its hood, wouldent this be like treason, as afterall were in the US and not Mexico?

I have a problem with it, but I don't think it should be considered treason or any other sort of crime. I think immigration needs to be slowed down, but once you let them in, you can't tell them what flag to fly. They are not impinging on anybody's freedom by flying the Mexican flag. Again, I think its wrong of them to fly any but the American flag, since to fly another showsdisrespect for their country. And people should always consider themselves members of the country they are citizens of. But you can't legislate patriotism.

Excessive immigration is one thing....but coming inside the US and sporting your own flag....isn't that considered "invasion?"

Where the heck is our Border Patrol???

They are really trying, they catch half the people trying to get in illegaly, but the other half (appx 1.2 million a year) get past them.

Isent legal immigration also like 1 or 2 million a year?

Well, around here there is mostly Puerto Rican flags dangling from rearview mirrors, but that's it. They are vastly outnumbered by cars and trucks (mostly trucks of course lol) flying the Confederate Navy jack (heh heh).
I don't really see anything wrong per se about having your "flag of ethnic background" displayed. After all, the United States is a country of immigrants.
In Boston, do you see a lot of Irish stuff flying? Sure, and why not?

Don't get me wrong, having thousands of illegal immigrants streaming over the border and draining the economy of billions of dollars is something that ought to be stopped dead in it's tracks. Naturally it won't, but what else is new?
By the same token, I am disgusted that legislation to prevent illegals from getting drivers licenses is facing opposition. Why in the hell are people opposing this?? This is part of the whole problem! I am sure they have their bleeding heart liberal reasons, but....

So why should they be given a driver's license? Hell no. If they want one, become a citizen and then you can have one.

An argument regarding gun control (and no i am not re-starting that debate) is "if you outlaw guns, only outlaws will have guns".

Could a similar argument be made of rgiving illegal immigrants driving licenses? I assume they still have to pass a test and, therefore they have a certain level of ability? Being an illegal citizen anyway, if they don't have a driving license, are they going to drive anyway?
