Someone talked about courage of conviction. sometime back.
I fail to understand what you mean.

Does courage of conviction mean that one is bigoted? Or brain denied?

It maybe in your Communist lexicography, not mine.

If I am proved wrong, then I am ready to embrace the truth! Not be a bigoted brainless wonder, as Communists tend to be!

In the same vein, I will say that my time is scarce. From this post onwards, I will only reply to those posts which really need my reply.
Isn't it an obvious fact when things get uncomfortable?

It was good meeting you online Ray. I came here because i think the level of dicussions are intellectually stimulating. But my scarce time is also a reality. My near future does not lie in politics. But as a student in a foreign country, I am a cultural ambassador of my country. And I know I have been successful in representing my country well.
My time is not "spareable" either!

I consider my time here as an effort to understand the world and make them understand us!

Good that you consider yourself as a cultural ambassador, but you would have done better for India in China!!

Wrong choice of countries!!

No regrets.

I would love to know where I am wrong with my facts.

I am not God, unlike you taking God's mantle!

I quoted news reports.

Prove them wrong.

Interesting that you are not from Bengal and yet you claim you know all about it and its election and even chide me for not voting.

You are young.

My advice is - Grow up and smell the coffee first hand before becoming Sir Oracle and hectoring those who are in the know!!!!

But they still show their streaks of brilliance from time to time. Good that mentioned ISI(Indian Statistical Institute)... I have a good friend of mine who graduated from there.. he is a bengali and am sure he is gonna make you proud too. I tried to get in there.. but couldnt.. one of my failures. Although I got in somewhere else, equally good, although in the field of technology.

As far as Jyoti Basu i concerned, I would like to say, no human is perfect... Neither I am looking for perfection... I look at his good characters and learn what he has to offer me. Gandhi, Nehru, Tagore have also helped me learn a lot (altough one can find imperfections in even them). I have the pleasure of meeting APJ and he ranks right at the top of the ladder.

Good characters of Jyoti Basu? Would you care to educate us more on this?

How is it that our Chinese Communist stalwarts are not coming to the rescue?

Just like they never rescued their best friend Pakistan!!

Typical Communists.

All pious talk and no go!

So, give me a break!

About emancipation?

My grand uncle's brother married Kanan Bala!!

Our family is not a one time wonder!
Seems like you are referring to Prof.Prasanta Chandra Mahalanobis, the Father of Indian Statistics.

Well, who would not know this great personality after studying in a college founded by him, THE ISI - Indian Statistical Institute, Calcutta.

Seems that I am in an August Company.

Yes, he is my granduncle.

But left leaning.

My mother's aunt, Nirmalkumari (or Ranididi to us), daughter of Herambo Maitra married him.

Everyone respect and love him a lot lot in China!
Much more than Chairman Mao, leaders today and even Deng Xiao Ping!
It is a pity that he died from cancer, or rather, successive and crazy attack from Gang of Four and toooo much work for the new China...

Oh, B'wana, you will be Chinese's friend forevermore!
How did you meet him? Could you tell me more about it?

Communism and Indian democracy don't work well together .The compitetive
Spirit will be destroyed.Consider Bengal which was one of the most developed
modern state in India in 1977 and its present form .One my Bengali friends father always says that Bengali's will shine immediately the moment they are out of West Bengal

Sir,

JB is a b*****d who along with cronies like Subhash Chakraborty f****d up the future of our state. His only achievement was in allowing Buddha to become the CM

My apologies if any of them are personally related to you and I have hurt feelings in any way, but that is what it is.

I personally do not despise true lefists per se, however misguided they may be, because ultimately they stand for upliftment of the weak. I cetainly would not like to see them in power but I beliee in opposition they can keep a rightist government honest.

However, I hate those vermin who use this as a mask to further their own agenda. they are just that, a cancerours vermin who should be routed out.
