Who really bothers if you have fury or you don't. You may criticise and discuss in the protection of your home, but it is the Public Security Dept which is the real reason why you don't criticise outside your home. All the high moralistic reasons that you have trotted out are the typical Communist doublespeak!! We also do everything to protect our Motherland and it is nothing so unique about Communist Chinese. Another of the big talk and attempt to ride the high horse of moral purity and come in like a Knight in Shining Armour!! Do come down to Mother Earth and quit thinking you are an Angel amongst sinners!!

Welcome to the WAB. Within the last few pages of this thread I'm sure that you can see many different peoples (from different countries) concerns about the people of Tibet and the Chinese government. Your government is under alot or political pressure as can be seen with what is happening with the Olympics. You have to forgive the fact that some of us (possibly more) get very little oppertunity to see inside of China (without anything being off limits) such does not happen very often in the media without bias. Critisisim is an essential part of become part of the larger global picture. Every country out there thats shares ties beit wanted or unwanted has gone through this time and time again (Americas gets it on a daily basis as do others). China, being such a large country would be assumed to be a leading power for the benefit of its people, its regional ties and contributing to making the world a better place to live for all concerned as well as her own economic health and growth. What makes alot of people skeptical about China is they are basically (forgive the term) isolated from alot of the bigger countries political wise especially the West. I for one dont know the history behind China and Tibet but can offer you this. The world at large loves the underdog, It is underscored everyday we open the paper and or the internet. We are based upon values (I'm sure China is as well) Our values have tought us that every human being deserves rights, Ones that cannot be taken away. These people merely wish that those rights are extended to the people of China and Tibet and hopefully come to a better understanding that works for the two parties concerned. Some expect it too happen quickly. Others know well how long of a journey it is to get there and the struggles that come along with it. Either way welcome to the WAB.

Doriss, the mark of a free nation is for its citizens to question about its policies and not just come out waving flags and declare sovereignty over everything. Discuss rather than declare. We discuss the merit of the Iraq war all the time. Those who scream and shout (on either side) are booted from the board. Instead of saying Tibet is a part of China and that's that, ask why some people don't believe that, especially the Tibetans. Tell people why Tibet should not be allowed independence. I tell people that all the time, except no one ever sees my point. Tell your friends instead of saying Tibet is a part of China, say Tibetans are in the wrong this time by inciting race riots. Tell people, especially westerners that an independent Tibet will be a religious theocracy. Westerners don't like those. |

I am proud to be American
I am Proud to be Chinese
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I am Chinese. Howdy, I am American. 25 years old. Female. 49.5 year old paunchy male I am studying in the University as a postgraduate. Got two of those! Still doesn't help my golf game. As a Chinese, May I ask you westerners a few questions? Okay 1. Are you living in China or have you been in China for some time? If the answer is NO, then on What basis are you accusing the CCP? So, stop considering yourselves always right. It offended us, ture Chinese. Nope. Haven't had the chance. Been to Europe and Middle East. Have you been to the USA? Stop considering me always wrong because I am American...that is my wife's job. 2. Do you know that your nations achieved industralization at least 100 years earlier than China? Please believe that 100 years later, Chinese people will enjoy much more so-called human rights than you. Yup and the entire idea of mass production was invented by an American guy, Eli Whitney! Oh and glad we inthe West could invest and provide the technology you needed. 3. Why do you like to have an oar in everyman's boat? Please! Iraq, Ireland and innumerable such affairs are not enough for you to make a racket? Sorry, I was an Infantry officer. We didn't have boats so no oars. The only water I had was in my boots. And as for Ireland? That is where my family is from and when you drink Harp and play Celtic music you make a lot of racket! 4. How do you know Chinese people are oppressed by the CCP? Funny. My whole family live a much better life than ten years ago. The so-called human rights and freedom are meaningless to common Chines people. We just want to enjoy a rich, peacefull life. And the CCP have done quite well to fullfill these demands. And if you have been in China, you will find that the most majority hold the same opinion with me. Good for you and your family! I am happy for you. Oh, and thos so called rights and freedoms? It guys like my uncle and my father and my cousin and my uncle and men like Ray, and OOE and Dreadnaught and Rifleman and Shek and S2 and countless others who have helped keep those rights and freedoms for our families...and the families of others. 5. You always think the western political system is much better than ours, ok, the last question : apply the US political system to china, in which there are at least 1.3billion people, 56 differet peoples, and with all the unfriendly capitalism neighbours, and with the Taiwan, Tibet ,and Xinjiang issues,, are you sur you can deal with it much better than the CCP??? Yup because it is obvious you do not understand the American political system. Okay, we only have 320 million people here, but we have a thing called representative democracy. we elect the people who elect the people. Its much easier. And we let all our citizens vote! Even Yankees fans and Steelers fans! Heck we had a Civil War and even let themn come back. And to return to the Union all they had to do was let us put some NHL franchises south of the Mason Dixon line and send th eold folks to Florida and Arizona!!! And Florida really shows the height of our election system! In 2000 we got to meet a guy named Chad. he was cool! He eally represented our democracy well. Even the judges got involved! It was wicked pissah! All my classmates and friends are fury about the Dalai Lama. We all know that CCP has many defects, and in our home, we often criticize it just like you criticize the Washington. But when it comes to such sovereign issues, we chinese people will regard the CCP as the embodiment of our motherland , and we will try our best to guard her, even the price maybe our young lives. I don't have any classmaes but I do have some coworkers. We're really in a fury too. We are in a fury because our Triple A baseball team is moving to georgia next year!!! And yesterday was tax day...and that was a bummer. And our boss is a real jerk. But I think Denis Leary put it best when he said "Life sucks...wear a helmet!" We want to make friends with people all around the world, but we alse need respect. Then earn it just like all other nations have. We love our motherland, we love China, and we are proud to be Chinese. Is that teh title of a Chiese Country and Western Song? Cool! Do you Toby Keith? Brad Paisley? Me too! If you have not figured it out yet, young lady, look in whatever translation dictionary you have for your language-to-English and look up the word sarcasm. I am not a moderator, heck I am just a rookie here. But do not dare to come into this open forum which rightfully prides itself on the free give and take of ideas and differing view points and try to tell us what we need to think. DO NOT try to twist and use the very freedoms your government denies you to attack those of us who enjoy those freedoms on a daily basis. I stood on the wall against Communists and Communism for too many years to have anything good to say or think about that murdering bunch and its bankrupt and failed ideas. Oh and you think you have some bad things to say to Washington? You folks are a bunch of rank amatuers compared to pi$$ed off 64 year old writing to her Congressman! Have a nice day in the workers paradise. BTW, how's the air quality? |
