The past few weeks have shown just how poorly the Chinese dictatorship and its apologists understand the outside world. They hoped to use the Olympics as a giant exercise in pro-regime propaganda. They have failed before the first athlete has entered the stadium.

The only people abusing the Olympics are the Chinese government.

You know, it's almost funny: I can't blame the CCP one bit for abusing the Olympics. Why you may ask?

1. The Olympics have always been one of the very opportunities for govenments to showcase virtually all proud aspects their country, cultural, economic, technological etc.

2. With my first point in mind, let's remember that this of course is still a Communist state. Therefore, it will use every propaganda tool at it's disposal, at every opportunity, to extoll it's virtues. It's only natural that one of those tools is the Olympics.

As I said, I can't really blame them. They're simply doing what they know best, nothing more, nothing less.

But we still ain't buying it.

What is REAL China? Please, just stop with all this "peace and harmony" crap. That picture Sherman posted is the biggest piece of bull ever! Chinese DO NOT want to coexist harmoniously. They want to annex lands and expand their Chinese reich. They have had border problem with almost every single one of their neighbours! Hell, even layed claim to all of Mongolia! You keep talking of "westerners" or the rest wanting to hurt Chinese sovereignty. Are you bloody kidding me? China itself expanded by crushing other's sovereignty; and still has not fulfilled its imperialistic goals. Hell, look at Sikkim, claimed by China, yet once the people there achieved democracy, they themselves ASKED to merge into India. Or how about Arunachal aka Tawang; another part which China claims as its own land. Have you talked to the people there? Almost all remain staunchly anti-China; infact, they played quite an active role in helping the Tibetans escape into India. So how does that make them Chinese? Step out of your imperialistic mindset and see the reality. If the Chinese government really wanted peace, they would call an end to their greed, but they don't. So how does that make them peaceful?
