No, I am not Aboriginal.

My Paternal and Maternal ancestors migrated to Australia in 1851.

My Father's side of the family came from Kirkwall on the Orkney islands and my mother's side of the family came from Scotland, near Inverness.

I am however Aussie through and through.

Cheers.

As I have said before, we have many of the same issues you guys do ... its just that it is restricted to a few areas here and there ex. in Dearbornistan, Michigan (formerly called Dearborn) which has a very large Muslim population now wants to play the call to prayer over loudspeakers all over the city 5 times a day. A similar proposal exists in nearby Islamtramack, Michigan (formerly known as Hamtramack). Then we have the Muslim taxi cab drivers demanding that the Minneapolis-St Paul International Airport set aside one of the public bathrooms exclusively for them to bathe their feet. We have "Islamic Centers" in NYC whose schools use Madrassa textbooks that preach hatred of the US, Israel and the West in general.

Some other nice little incidents:

- On April 14th 1972, members of the Nation of Islam (an official subversive movement) at a mosque in Harlem phoned in a fake phone call to the NYPD saying that an officer was in distress (remember, this was back in the Dark Ages before handheld radios were widely available) and then proceeded to ambush responding officers, killing Officer Phillip Cardillo by beating him to death with his own baton as a huge mob battled his fellow officers outside the mosque. NYPD brass refused to allow them to use force or to call in the elite Tactical Patrol Force in an attempt to rescue Officer Cardillo for fear that it would cause further violence and in an even bigger snub both the mayor and the commissioner of police refused to attend Cardillo's funeral leading to massive public outrage. Mayor John Lindsay (a good ol liberal who ruined NYC) famously went off skiing with his family rather then attend the funeral of an NYPD officer killed in the line of duty, this was the ONLY time in NYC history where the mayor did not attend the funeral of a city law enforcement officer or firefighter/EMT killed in the line of duty.

- A reputed Islamic training center in the woods of upstate New York in the Catskill Mountains town of Hancock called "Islamberg". Lots of gunfire, explosions, etc. There are also supposed additional training centers in and around Buffalo, NY which also has a big Muslim population.

Pshh... they are innocent bunnies when compared with the Indian politicians.

Some monkeys in the history of Indian politics:

Quote:
#7 - Hari Shankar Tiwari
Cabinet minister at the State Assembly in several governments

Charges: Over 37 cases of murder.

Claim to fame: One of the first Indian politicians to win an election from behind bars. This act exposed a loophole in the system - since you’re considered innocent until convicted, you can fight elections even from behind bars. Most criminal politicians in India today owe their ancestry to Hari Shankar Tiwari.

#6
Amarmani Tripathi
Former Uttar Pradesh minister

Charges: Was a member of Hari Shankar Tiwari’s gang, and had 33 criminal cases pending against him. Arrested in 2003 for the murder of poetess Madhumita Shukla, with whom he had an affair.

Claim to fame: Tripathi and his wife are curently in Gorakhpur jail, where they are said to be leading a carefree life. In the U.P. Assembly Elections, 2007, Amarmani won as an Independent candidate, despite being behind bars.

#5
Mukhtar Ansari
Independent MLA

Charges: Murder, extortion, kidnapping, arson and inciting riots.

Claim to fame: This grandson of non-violent freedom fighter Mukhtar Ahmed Ansari, he won the Mau seat in the 2007 Uttar Pradesh Elections while still in prison on charges of murdering rival BJP MLA Krishnanand Rai. His brother Afzal, also accused, is currently a member of the 14th Lok Sabha.

#4
Mohammad Shahabuddin
Member of Parliament, Rashtriya Janata Dal

Charges: Murder, attempted murder, kidnapping, extortion

Claim to fame: The standard by which all other criminal-politicians are judged (e.g. Mukhtar Ansari is called the Shahabuddin of UP). Slaps police officers and sprout filmi lines like “Tadpa tadpa ke maarenge”.

#3
Dharam Pal Yadav
Rajya Sabha Member, Bharatiya Janata Party

Charges: Murder, attempted murder, dacoity, kidnapping for extortion.

Claim to fame: Worst drinking buddy ever. Illicit liquor allegedly supplied by him was responsible for the death of around 350 persons who consumed it. His son Vikas (Vicky) killed his daughter’s boyfriend, of whom Yadav did not approve, and is also a co-accused in the Jessica Lal case.

#2
Raghuraj Pratap Singh
Independent MLA

Charges: Murder, assault, possession of illegal weapons

Claim to fame: Genuine royalty, folks! When police raided the palace of this scion of the Bhadri dynasty, they uncovered a large cache of rifles, an AK-56 Chinese-built Kalashnikov, a skeleton in the palace lake, and also a large amount of unaccounted for jewellery and cash.

#1
Arun Gawli
Member of Legislative Assembly, Akhil Bharatiya Sena

Charges: Kidnapping, extortion, murder (acquitted of all charges due to lack of witnesses).

Claim to fame: He’s been in and out of jail several times and spent more than 10 years in custody, but has never actually been convicted. “Daddy” is the undisputed Don of Dagdi Chawl whose word is law in most parts of Mumbai and Maharashtra. Entering politics and becoming an MLA also means that he will not get taken out in any “encounters”.

And then there is India's bandit queen Phoolan Devi whose had a good run in parliament despite charges of banditry and illegal arms possesion.Makes one wonder, where the limits of freedom and democracy should be.

It is simply pathetic to expect such politicians to make decisions like these; afterall it is the tax payers money. In the end, I would say that referendums should be held and the vast majority should decide where their money goes. Sure, this might be an expensive option, but giving away your tax money on useless stuff is not any cheaper!
