Democrat apparently wins by 8 votes in Washington state

OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) -The head of the state Democratic Party said late Tuesday that recount results from King County give Democrat Christine Gregoire an eight-vote victory in the closest governor's race in state history.

I still think it's a little premature for anyone to call a victory. But, if this thing is really won by 8 votes can the Republican candidate call for a re-vote? I mean that is god damn close. Then again, I cant complain. After an election year like this we Democrats will take a win anyway we can get it.

Why bother with another recount - the Dems will just keep conveniently finding ballots until people with jobs get bored and decide to wait until next time.

I love the hypocrisy too - if this were a Republican getting multiple recounts and finding new ballots stuffed in dark places weeks after the fact, finally looking like a winner by a only handful of votes, the loonie Lefties and their daily newsrag mouthpieces would have such giant ******s about this story that Vanessa del Rio would have to come out of retirement to take the edge off of them.

I think the hyprocrisy goes both ways. At least in wWashington they can still legitmatley recount the votes. In states like mine (Maryland) we have to rely on a hardrive practically owned by the GOP. I Guess future elections will have to be won by at least a couple thousand to even have a chance.

Oh I don't dismiss the need for a recount when it's really close - I merely shake my head cynically at the fact that they seem to be pushed past the limits of reasonableness when it's a Dem who loses.

How funny, how many recounts did it take for the Dems to win? 2 or 3?
They're getting sluggish. Losing that knack for electoral fraud.

This whole Washington election was a joke.

The Dems kept 'finding votes' until they had enough.

Go figure...

Or the Republicans kept losing votes untill they were in the lead. I guess it depends on which way you look at it.

I wouldnt exactly call this revenge. They stole the Presidencey. We stole a Governorship. That is if you believe both elections were stolen. The bottom line, it is sad that in a country that claims to be the STAR of demoracy and wants to spread democracy all over the world. We cant even get our own democracy to the point where fraud is not an option (Republicans or Democrats.)

Hey, election fraud is an American tradition! Who was it who said,

"When I die, bury me in Alabama so I can continue to vote."?

This business of unverifiable electronic voting has to go. That is so ripe for election fraud; the crooked politician's dream.

Nope, at least one was constitutional. Have to wait and see about the other.

Supreme Court says COUNT THE BALLOTS.

BREAKING NEWS news updated: 3:11 PM 12/22/2004.3
Supreme Court: Count disputed ballots in Wash governor's race

REBECCA COOK THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
The state Supreme Court ruled Wednesday that King County should include hundreds of recently discovered ballots in the hand recount of the still-undecided governor's race.

After seven weeks of counting and recounting, the ballots from the Democratic stronghold of King County could swing the election for Democrat Christine Gregoire. Republican Dino Rossi won the first count by 261 votes and won a machine recount by 42 votes.

``There is a sacred American right to have legitimate votes counted,'' Gregoire said in a news release after the ruling. ``The justices recognized that principle today.''

Republicans said they will now seek out Rossi voters whose ballots were disqualified because of election workers' errors and fight to have those ballots counted as well.
