Cohen Speculates Upon the Inner Thoughts of Gates
William Cohen Surveys the SECDEF's Plate
This is an interesting bit of speculation by one former SECDEF about the inner thoughts of our current, Robert Gates. From my perspective, I found it valuable in being reminded of the issues before Sec'y Gates, granted through Cohen's perspective. Cohen's thoughts on the President's approach to the ISG findings are interesting in light of the participation by Gates in the Baker-Hamilton board until his nomination as SECDEF. His comments about Iran are equally interesting, though one might think that Cohen possesses less of Gates' insight on this issue and may be more closely expressing his own views.
