Top pakistani scientists in Taliban custody

Top Pakistan nuclear scientists in Taliban Custody: Zee News Exclusive

New Delhi, March 07: Two top nuclear scientists of Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC) are currently in Taliban custody. The two were working at PAEC’s facility in North West Frontier Province. Zee News investigations reveal that the two scientists were kidnapped about six months ago. To avoid international embarrassment Pakistan Government has kept this information under wraps.

According to information available with Zee News, nuclear scientists have been kidnapped by Taliban at the behest of Al-Qaeda. Further investigations reveal that Al-Qaeda may be using the expertise of the scientists to produce nuclear bombs. The two scientists are reportedly being held somewhere in Waziristan, near Afghanistan border.

In January this year Pakistan security agencies had foiled another attempt by Taliban militia to kidnap nuclear scientists. Earlier, incidents of Taliban militia stealing uranium in NWFP have already been reported. PAEC also has a uranium mining facility in NWFP.

With repeated Al Qaeda threats to the US, news of kidnapping of nuclear scientists will increase pressure on Pakistan to attack terrorist camps.

This is serious business. Pakistani Govt is making a case if there is a nuke attack anywhere and it is traced to the nuke programme there, they are not responsible. Reminded that the Pakistani Govt had made an agreement with tribals (read AQ/ Taliban) that area.

Now that US is planning hot pursuit in FATA/ NWFP..they are releasing info we've been suspecting all along. That terror nukes will most likely emanate from Pakistani sources.

Anyone here believes that Pakistan is a safe country to possess nukes?

As Stig sir says..time to hit bunkers. This is one country that has no responsiblity to others and itself. The West is waking up a bit too late IMO.

Zee news also reported that Uranium has been stolen from NWFP plant . they estimate the terrorists will need about half a kg to make one dirty bomb.
and stig brother dont use JIHAD word like this. It doesn't mean terrorism or holy war but has been implied wrongly . hope you understand

If there is a nuke attack anywhere in the west, then expect the US to plant mushroom clouds in NWFP. When that happens...what will Mushy do? The locals and the mullahs will be up in arms. I wouldn't like to be in his shoes.

NWFP is beyond th capability/ will of the Pakistani military to control. Yet notice that they have uranium mining and PAEC facilities in that Jihadi terrorist infested, ungoverned, backward, medieval area where the worlds most dreaded terrorist organizations launch attacks on a worldwide basis.

And Pakistani nuke scientists just mover around the area without a worry?

Frankly the message Pakistan is sending out is that the Taliban and AQ have the bomb or are close to it. That means US and Indian security establishments will now go on an overdrive. Investments now are needed to scan for radiation every truck/ vehicle that enters any major city, ports etc etc.

US Govt will react in a way most suited to their interests by sanctioning 500 million USD worth of AMRAAMS and Maritime reconnaisance aircraft that detect submarines in addition to wiping all accumulated debts of Pakistan in exchange.

The imbecility of allowing Pakistan to acquire nukes will come home to roost for the US and India too.

There is more to this than meets the eye, dear fellows.
2. US needs to pursue and hit them Zheehadis in that area but mushy cannot afford to be in consent with the idea!
2. US needs a BIG excuse to get in there, also has an eye on Pak's nukes. Mushy has to save face. US is very smart.
2+2=???

I have found Zee News to be biased against pakistan many times , and this news is plain rubbish I think. It says Zee News carried out an investigation , hows that possible. . Moreover if news was true then what are names of those pakistani scientists that have been abducted by taliban and where is American Intelligence? I dont think Zee news has better Intelligence than Americans sitting right there in pakistan and afghainstan.

Cheetah its your guilty mindedness that your getting most active on topics you can attack best, being an Indian from a pakistani viewpoint i have already said this new is not credible. dont see why your jumping up and down.

As for designed by DRDO come back when Pakistan has a "single" quality Educational institution which is internationally recognised. We might talk then.

I suppose they do have some vocational training colleges providing expertise in paint brush technology.
