kNikS,

There were crimes committed all around during the Yugoslav Wars (as it to be expected in any conflict), but the fact remains that Slobodan Milosevic was the instigator and was more culpable than any other figure in ex-Yugoslavia.

It was CNN make Milosevic so evil. In fact he wasnt even nationalist he use national feeling of our people to stay on power but he wasnt nationalist as Tudjman (Croatian president). For example Tudjman would do everything for Croatia even if he lost power to Milosevic only what was mater was to stay on power, he was classic soft dictator.
And dont forget in 1995 west talk about him as factor of peace and stability in region. Why?
He didnt give support to Serbs in Croatia during operation Storm which forced 250.000 Serbs to leave Croatia. He impose sanctions to Bosnian Serbs in 1994 because they didnt sign Vens-Owen plan and didnt listen him more.

And Serbs are major population in ex-Yu and Serbs fight 3 wars during last decade so it was easy to make them brutal killers by west newspapers. To be short millions and millions of dollars give Arab states to CNN and others to make Milosevic look like Balkan butcher.
I just try to point out you couldnt judge about some conflict if you dont judge both sides.
As I said earlier all four nations are f***** by their own politicians.

P.S. I condemn Milosevic first because he create tycoons (in fact we could very well survive sanctions if our state control all export-import but no he allow his man of trust to do export-import of oil, cigars, food, medics and military equipment and by this he create the most richest men on Balkan and those folks didnt had nothing before) Also I condemn Milosevic because he always play on US support instead on Russia and China. I condemn him because he was fake nationalist or to say fake patriot.

Blaming CNN again aye?

Following teh withdrawal from Croatia in 1992 came the emergence of Serb dissidents from within Croatia's borders who engaged in a war against the Croatian government with support from Milošević. The first leader of Serbs in Croatia, Milan Babić, has stated that Milošević was responsible for this and his successor Goran Hadžić publicly bragged about how he was "the extended hand of Slobodan Milošević".

Croatia's Operation Storm was a military operation to "recapture" parts that rebel serbs took, the 200000 or so serbs either left by themselves or were forced, this is still disputed.

Serbs became opposed to the regime of Tuđman because of his desire for an independent Croatia. More specifically, they saw this process as a threat to the idea of Greater Serbia.

Tuđman IS NOT much better than Milošević.... there was no right side in that war.... just a war for survival. Serbs lost as they were stupid and pick wrong allies

Vlad,

The collapse of Yugoslavia became inevitable when Milosevic stripped Kosovo of its autonomy and began severely repressing the Kosovars. First its political institutions were done away with, then over 100,000 lost their jobs in state-owned enterprises.

Kosovar-language TV stations and newspapers were shut down, and almost the entire student population of Pristina University was expelled. A police state was implemented, and 80% of the population became unemployed.

The KLA did fight Serbian forces, but what excuse is there to drive out 40-50% of the Kosovar population?

All I say is that if we are to encourage the establishment of Islamic nations in Europe and elsewhere, there is nothing wrong in that. In fact, it is laudable.

Then, let the Islamic nations pursue their agenda as per what they want and what their religion orders.

Thereafter, we should not have all this ridiculous whining 'being Islam being on the march' and 'and such breast beating about War on Terror' and akin hogwash!

Any takers?

First, one encourages and then weep and then go on an onslaught that turns the world on its head!

What logic!

Hi Ironduke - I actually doubt 40-50% figure.... Most figures reported in media in those days were proven wrong later. For example I remember shocked with MASSIVE genocide figures reported for Bosnia.... yet there were no THOUSANDS of people. Any life is precious.... but media really overplayed and overlied in those years.

The truth is that there was a genocide of Chroatians, Bosnians, Serbs... Albanians.... again Serbs. There was no right or wrong side but MUTUAL genocide. Serbs were most stupid in PR war and were WELL punished for that..... I remember living in Stambul in those days watching both CNN and then Russian channels.... They were reporting of different genocides and OF HUGE figures of which only fraction was proven later.

Please SUPPORT your 40-50% figure.... and 80% unemployed too

So, a presumption of innocence doesn't work any more. I'll remind, mr.Milosevic hadn't been recognized guilty by Hague court.

First of all there is no such thing a Kosovar language. Its Albanians, speaking Albanian.
Second, do you have a source for those facts ?
Do you know the history of Kosovo ? Another thing is, why is called "Te Kosovo LIBERATION Army" ? Liberating it from who ? Kosovo has been Serbian way before there were ANY Albanians there. People tend to talk alot about Greater Serbia plan...can't you see the Greater Albania plan ?

(1) You mean American Operation Storm ?
(2) Rebel Serbs invading Croatia ? Last time i checked they have been living there for a very long time...
(3)Its more like 400 000. And not ONE left by themselves. All were forced out. Those who stayed behind...we all know what happened.

Extremely stupid. I remeber watching a documentary not too long ago about a PR agancy (forgot the name) and mentioning how much money was put in by Croatia and Bosnia, while Serbia (Milosevic more correctly) didnt even bother.

Like said before, some reported 200 000+ Muslims alone being killed, now its questionable if 200 000 people ALL UP died. I dont even know why people still believe media so much. Look at the picture painted by the US media in the Vietnam war...its not like its the first time the media lied...
