Musharraf's court martial was recommended following Kargil:Report

Islamabad, Aug. 7 (PTI): A Pakistan military inquiry committee which probed the Kargil debacle had recommended "court martial" of General Pervez Musharraf but he overthrew then Nawaz Sharif Government in 1999 and "stole" the report before it was implemented, claimed a White Paper on Kargil released by Sharif's PML-N party.

Sharif had "constituted a military inquiry committee that recommended court martial" of Army Chief Musharraf, but the General, now also the President, overthrew then government and "stole" the report from the Prime Minister's House "to save his face," Joint Secretary of Pakistan Muslim League-N (PMN-N) Siddiqul Farooq, who released the 100-page 'White Paper' yesterday, was quoted in the media here as saying.

Anticipating court-martial in the wake of the Kargil debacle, Farooq said, Musharraf overthrew the Sharif government on October 12, 1999 to save his "neck."

"The General wanted to take over in the first week of August, but he had to hold his horses till October," he said.

Musharraf had wilfully avoided constituting a commission to fix the responsibility for the huge military defeat that had demoralised the entire nation, Farooq said and called for setting up a high-power commission on the Kargil debacle that should submit its findings to Parliament within six months.

The PML-N White Paper titled 'Kargil Adventurism: Another Huge Defeat after Dhaka Fall, Who is responsible' recommended that Musharraf should "admit his blunders" and present himself for a court-martial.

"If he does not have the moral courage to own his blunders then his court martial is a must to close the doors of future takeovers by adventurer Generals," excerpts of the White Paper published in the media here said.

Typical. Thats the thing with Pak armed forces- those who should get promoted get canned (ask about Sajjad "Nosey" Haider of the PAF & what happened when he openly criticized Zia) and the most mediocre & bloodthirsty climb to power (Ayub, Yahya, Zia and now Musharraf). Its the only army which has "Corps Commanders" who are more into politics than their troops welfare & training. And of course, with expendable jihadis around, why bother with "war"...

Of course, you'll have hosannas for the man, such is propoganda.

That is what I keep saying, an utter failure as a military commander, in 2 major operations in the same sector (Siachin 1987 and Kargil 1999) is leading his nation in the same way he led his operational commands.

5 years from now you will find the people, who chest beat in his glory, abusing and cursing him.

Its a Military Fraud democracy right now and he is the new Prophet!

I am sure Lahori will agree.

At this moment Musharaff's words are etched on stone. Nobody in Pakistan can dare or rather they themselves do not wish to challenge. Kargil was a sorta hypothetical victory for them where PA was kicking our butts but Politicians let them down. Nobody even bothered to calculate the objective of the kargil conflict. And those who did(enquiry committee)... god only knows their fate. But ofcourse, Liaquat Ali Khan was a great leader, so was Ayub Khan & so was Zia & so is Musharaff. Till the time these generals are ruling they are like god send angels. Its only when they are dead that they are termed as Demons. Zia was Ayatullah Khomeini wanna & Musharaff is Ataturk wannabe. Musharaff is supposed to set right everything thats supposed to be wrong with Pakistan. Sad!! 165 million people have to put their fate behind a man with two weak hands.
