Hasba Act needed to implement Shariat Bill’

PESHAWAR: The Nifaz-e-Shariat Council met on Wednesday to discuss various aspects of the Hasba Act calling the legislation essential to implement all sections of the Shariat Bill to “ensure” peace and law and order.

“The meeting noted with concern that President Pervez Musharraf challenged the act despite its approval from the NWFP Assembly,” said a government handout. It said the meeting “formally agreed to appeal” for revision against the Supreme Court’s verdict objecting to various sections of the bill. Mufti Ghulam-ur-Rehman chaired the meeting and Senior Minister Sirajul Haq and Law Minister Malik Zafar Azam were also in attendance.

It was also regretted in the meeting that centre “created hurdles” in way of the Hasba Act despite the fact that Shariah and Hasba Bills might contribute in making congenial atmosphere of supremacy of law and peace and eradicating all sorts of crimes from the province. staff report

I see it has re-emerged, it was chucked out 6 months ago and will be thrown out again. Does anyone really think that if PM's helped pass such draconian acts what thier partners would have to say about it?!

Pakistan was created for religious freedom for muslims, not so that we could replace hindu dictation by wahhabi dictation.

Platinum,

I thought the British ruled India till independence.

I didn't know that British were Hindus!

BTW Jinnah said something about secular Pakistan and not about religious freedom of Moslems alone or so it appears in his address in the Pakistani Constituent Assembly and much is made in Pakistan about this sentence to show how Jnnah was a secular chap!

Plats,

You must bone up about Paksitan before speaking on behalf of Pakistan!
