All images are linked to a french government website. Since it's government I'm pretty sure they don't care about their bandwith usage. If any moderators think I should attach them instead please tell me since I do have them in hard copy on my hardrive. thxs

I don't think anyone here is going to tell you to stop stealing bandwidth from the French Government.

Since you started this WWI thread, I had found some postcards in an antique store the other day dated 1914 that I thought were neat looking and found them online. The pictures below are in color, but the postcards I have are in black and white...well, that reddishy black and white (sienna, sierra, something). I have two more that are not pictured below but I don't have a scanner and I could not find pictures of the others online...
The most I can figure out about them is that each has part of a German Military song on it (I was able to find them on a German website, translate the website and then translate the song.)

This is a link to the German version:
http://www.altearmee.de/archiv/sonnesank.html

And here is the english translation page:
http://translate.google.com/translat...language_tools

Anyone know anything about them? There were some more there that I am thinking about going back and getting cause they are really neat to me, but it is about an hour drive.

It's sort of errie I think. Pretty much all of those guys are most likely dead by now. It's sad that only the french ever bothered to take color photographs.

I think they are very neat...not at all eery. I collect old photos and postcards, mostly from 1920-1950. I think it is neat to see how people lived, dressed and what they did.

With military photos it is interesting to see how armies are all so different. When you see photos of German soldiers inthe field like this, they are usually younger and very fit...these pictures they are mostly older looking and kinda chubby (as compared to the Germans).

Conscripts ma'am, as opposed to professional soldiers.
