It's my country too. A Documentary by American Muslims.

It's My Country Too

I posted this somewhere inside a thread, doubt many of you got a chance to see it, because of the bandwidth cap. Got a work-buddy to host it, now.

Now this guy has a following larger Muslim following of perhaps more than the Imam of Ka'abah (in Mecca). He is Salman Ahmed, of Junoon. Mine and probably every other Pakistani kids inspiration to pick up the guitar as their main instrument.

I was interviewing him for a local newspaper and he told me about how he got into becoming this crusader. He's also got another documentary to his name, "The rockstar and the Mullahs", based on Pakistan's theocratic culture.

Interesting. Wish I could rewind as there are somethings I would dispute, but I'm not watching it again. Disturbing how he says Muslims who are for Bush are "obviously wrong" because they don't think the way he does. Kinda wiped any idea it was non-partisan away there though.

I'm glad you saw it all.

"obviously wrong"
Must've missed that. But he presents both sides of the story. I for one, would've voted for Bush in the elections. I don't think its American policy to be anti-Muslim. But as he mentions 1 in 4 Americans view their Muslim population with suspicion. I think thats what he's trying to point out, he never really mentions anything great about Kerry either.

My family says democrats, though they're worst than than republicans at treating the Muslim countries, they're better off for local Americans.

Whose the democrat candidate this time round? And the Republican? I heard Lull mention that Hillary would represent the democrats... then I read somewhere the guy who wanted to nuke Mecca might represent the Republicans???

A President thats adamant to nuking Mecca, just to prove a point... Scary stuff.

I know Salman's looking for another subject to film a documentary on. I'm hoping he'd get involved in this film project of mine, about Feudal Lords in Pakistan. I'm recruiting some big shots support for it, otherwise its easy to land with a bullet in your head...

Salman wrote songs and spoke against former Prime Ministers Benazir and Nawaz, they tried to ban and arrest him but would've taken a big public opinion hit. Actually he was very anti-establishment all the time till Musharraf came to the scene. We all knew he accepts Musharraf as a leader when Mushy made a suprise appearance at one of his rock concerts and sung a little with them.

You might also want to check out this song: http://www.polarity1.com/nomore.html one of his more known English songs.

Don't get me wrong, it was pretty good. Seemed he got his ideas across rather well without being insulting. I was just a little sad that he had done so well keeping a "generic" Muslim point of view until then.

It seemd destined not to work for me. If I use Mozilla it won't download, if I use IE it won't allow me to register. Oh well.
