The photo with the weapons has a man in Khaki uniform.

Pakistani army wears Khaki uniform.

Most probably it is a makeshift Kote (armoury).

Could be Ladhakis from the Ladhak Scouts.
Brig.Ray sir, is correct the arms are of the Pakistani unit kote (armoury). See the 2 MG3s. Its is the Pakistani Army's standard section auto weapon.
These guys are using AK-56s, the G3 is their standard rifle of the regular Pak Army, but the PoK units use the AK-56. The unit deployed there is from PoK, one of the units of Azad Kashmir Regiment, Norther Light Infantry Regiment or Mujahid Regiment.

The first 3 post by hammer are pictures from the Indian side of Siachen.

Pictures from the Pak side, start from the hammer 4th post. (If I remember the report correctly).

Cool pics. But what a waste of money and men by both countries.

.
Depends on where they are stationed. In Azad Kashmir for example they wear Jungle Camoflouge mostly. In the Eastern Desert they wear khaki, in Waziristan and the Western Deserts they wear Dersert Camoflauge.

IA doesn't use Type56(folding bayonet) or MG3-

The following AK vaiants are in IA use (in varying quantities):

AKM (Standard Soviet)
AKMS(Standard Soviet)
MPiKM (2nd hand East German)
MPiKMS-72 (2nd hand East German)
MPiKM & MPiKMS (now Romanian made)
Type 56-2 (Folding stock) Mostly captured
And only recently a huge batch of substandard Bulgarian made AKs (full black -folding stock)

Additionally, a sizable batch of Czech vz58 and 58P

I'm not sure but ther seem to be some hungarian AKMs as well.

Why is this guy going down this way?

Wouldn't he be better off going face first but walking/running? that way he could have one hand free.
Cool pics by the way, reminds me of where I used to go climbing & ski-touring when I was a kid.
