Hopefully I'll be able to make it. One other question:

What's the weather like there? I assume hot and humid, generally? When is the best month to schedule a tour there, weather-wise? It's a beautiful place, judging by the Kerala pictures, and I'd love to get out and about a bit and see the countryside. If the current deal we're working on comes together, there's a very good chance I'll go, basically at company expense, sometime within the next year or so. I might even try to bring my fiancee.

Thanks, gents.

I guess I opened this thread too late.

Aventis,

Mysore is a small sleepy city, atleast there is no noticable night life there. You can go to Bangalore for that, can have loads of beer and Karthik might be able to tell you more.

For toursity things in Mysore, its pretty much the palace and the Chamundeswari temple. If you like trekking or hiking, you can do so in the forest range around Mysore. Then there is this wildlife park Bandipur and one more Nagerhole.

You cross Bandipur through Cuddalore you can hit Ooty, another hill station in Tamil Nadu. Then to Coimbatore and thro Palakkad you can hit Kerala.

If you want to visit Munnar, the best would be to go through Ooty- Dindigul - Theni - Cumbum - Munnar. Its a very nice route, but most of these places would be scorching. Alternatively you can go from Coimatore to Munnar or from Cochin to Munnar.

Most of the hill stations would be crowded now, coz of the scorching summer.

I have never seen it, I wanted to know if it is well maintained or is it ruins?
.....just for info the units that breeched the fort were from the 1st,2nd and 3rd/ 4th Maratha Light Infantry. The 3 battalions were part of the Indian brigade of the Bombay Army, there was an European brigade too during that battle.

Most of it remains in an okay sort of state, but you are right - they can be better maintained.

But I have to say that his usual palace and his summer palace are beautiful. He's donated so many artefacts to all the great temples that lie in and around the wonderful city of Mysore.

Trust me, if you are an art lover, you'll really love the city.
