Oops--didn't see this. By chance, I may well end up visiting south India within the next six months or so--at least if Mysore counts as south India (in Karnataka, right?). I'd love to see more pictures, as this looks like a lovely place. Is the food down there any good? I don't know hardly anything about Indian cuisine; I'll have to try more of it soon. (They have a couple of Indian restaurants here in town in Southern California, US, where I live, but I don't know one region of India from the next, and I bet the traditions vary considerably. Please feel free to clue me in if you like, any of you who live there--I'd be most interested to learn more.)

Mysore is quite close to my town.And Yes ! Mysore is in South India.

The most majestic elephant in kerala
Kesavan
It was one of the majestic elephant which served the Lord in all its sincerity and uniqueness.Kerala's biggest and grandest elephant, Gajarajan Kesavan, served the Lord for long 54 years. Who have seen him will never forget Kesavan.
(below right)To commemorate him, a 12 feet high statue has been erected in front of Sreevalsam rest house.

You are most welcome. Do tell if your trip is just to South India or are other Indian places part of your itinerary, and we will be give you the info.
If you visit South India - Karthik, hammer or Samudra may guide you.
In east India - Brig Ray Sir, can assist you with info,
and if you are in Mumbai (Bombay) - I'll guide you around in my battered car.

Thanks, gents. If my tentative travel plans come to fruition, I'll get back to you on this. That is some beautiful country there. I'm not sure I'll have much of a chance to do any real tourism, though--my sole destination may be Mysore. But as things develop, I'll see if I can find a way to work some other interesting places there in the south of India into my itinerary. In the meantime, I do appreciate your expressions of hospitality.
