India's 2005 Republic Day Parade

The impressive Republic Day Parade is held every year on 26 Jan, the anniversary of the formation of the Indian Republic.

To mark the importance of this occasion, every year a grand parade is held in the capital, from the Raisena Hill near the Rashtrapati Bhavan (President's Palace), along the Rajpath, past India Gate and on to the historic Red Fort. The different regiments of the Army, the Navy and the Air force march past in all their finery and official decorations. The President of India who is the Commander in Chief of Armed Forces, takes salute of the contingents of Armed Forces. The parade also includes vibrant displays, floats and folk dances from India's many peoples, and traditionally ends with a fly past by Indian Airforce jets.

Wonderfull.
The PBGs are so colourfull.
Impressive.

I was so very curious about this parade.
Last year i missed watching it live on tv.
This time , i was lucky.

Liked the shots where kids salute the Police men.

Cant imagine a parade so colorfull as this , in this damn world !
Even Einstein would have loved parades had he watched this.

That would be the Tangushka Air defence system. I could'nt see the parade on TV. The soldier in the pic is wearing the cap badge of the ADA (Air defence Arty), and according to the PIB release of the mounted/marching columns, Tangushka is the only ADA system apart from the ZSU-23 that were on display. The pic above is definately not a ZSU-23, has to be pic of the Tangushka.

Here are pics of the 'Beating the Retreat' ceremony, which marked the end of Republic Day celebrations yesterday on 29 January. The ceremony dates back to the days when troops disengaged themselves from battle at sunset.
